Lahore Traffic Police has recently introduced a bold and strict new traffic laws to control traffic violations and reduce the number of deadly accidents on the roads. In a significant move, they have decided to stop issuing challans (fines) for major traffic violations. Instead, violators will now face direct arrest or an FIR (First Information Report).
This step is being taken to make people more serious about traffic rules. According to officials, many drivers ignore challans and keep breaking the law, putting lives at risk. So now, traffic police will take strict legal action on the spot.
New Traffic Laws
Here are some of the violations that will now result in an arrest or FIR:
- One-Way Violation – So far, 536 people have been arrested for driving the wrong way. This dangerous act not only causes accidents but also creates major traffic jams.
- Overloading Loader Rickshaws – Many rickshaws are so overloaded that the driver cannot even see behind. This leads to accidents and creates serious safety risks.
- Unregistered Vehicles – Most of these are two-wheelers connected with carts and often move around unnoticed. These vehicles are now being strictly checked.
- Underage Driving – Authorities are planning new laws to hold the parents responsible as well. They will be considered as abettors and can face legal action if their underage children are caught driving.
- Reckless Driving – Speeding, unnecessary overtaking, and dangerous driving patterns will not be tolerated anymore.
Another major step includes creating a digital footprint of each violation. This means that if someone breaks a law, the record will be saved online as proof.
Also, once an FIR is registered, the violator will not be able to get a job in the Police or any government department in the future. This adds long-term consequences to their actions.
This new policy by Lahore Traffic Police shows that they are serious about making the roads safer for everyone. It is now up to the public to follow the rules and drive responsibly.
