No More Manual Challan on Mall Road Lahore

City Traffic Police Lahore has announced that the manual challan system on Mall Road has been terminated. In a tweet, the police stated that from November 15, 2022, only a digital challan would be issued to the traffic violators. “Initially, the new system will be applied in Traffic Sector Mall One and Mall Two,” Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Dr. Asad Malhi said.

Sharing the further details, the police tweeted that in case of a challan, the citizen will receive a message from 8070. “The complete information will be filled after the entering car registration number or CNIC number,” the police said. The force will also ensure access to the driver and car’s criminal record in the future. The police will save all data of the number of challans, place, and traffic violation. This is a step towards digital policing, Malhi asserted.

No Helmet, No Mall Road

The traffic police of Lahore has been taking several steps to modernize the traffic monitoring system along with ensuring safety. All recent initiatives have been started from Mall Road, as it is the heart of Lahore’s traffic. A couple of days ago, the police banned helmet-less entry on the said road. Malhi said no biker would be allowed on Mall Road without a helmet. “In case of violation, there will be a heavy fine,” he asserted. The officer further said this is a model stage and will be spread across the city in the next phase.

The CTO added that this new law will have 100% continuity and will make sure to implement it thoroughly. Malhi reached Mall Road to launch the campaign today.

Before that, the police started a project to monitor traffic through drones. The initiative has been launched to ensure the city’s smooth traffic flow.
