Do Not Play Music On The 12th Of Rabi-ul-Awal

Islamabad Transport Authority has imposed a ban on playing films and songs in public transport vehicles in respect of Rabi-ul-Awal-the month of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birth.

As per a notification, the ban will remain enact till October 19th, which is 12 Rabi-ul-Awal in the Islamic calendar. The notification further stated that government will take legal action against violators-both in public and private sector. However, the government has allowed to play recitation of Holy Quran, Hamd, Naat, and other religious content on the transport.

As per media reports, the step has been taken with an intend to draw people closer to Islam and evoke respect and love for life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Earlier, Punjab Transport Authority issued a similar notification. Meanwhile, both provincial and federal government has decorated roads, government buildings and monuments to celebrate the month.
