The way our government is increasing petrol prices each month, it’s not even funny anymore. After the last massive increase of Rs. 5 per litre, Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has now proposed a petrol price hike of Rs. 5.25 per litre

Other than petrol, the price of diesel is expected to rise by Rs. 3.5 per litre. As per a media report, OGRA has sent the proposal of increasing petroleum prices from October 1 to the Finance Division. The Ministry of Finance would make a final decision after consultations with Prime Minister Imran Khan. The new petrol prices will be announced by the end of today. Fingers crossed!

Current Petrol Price

After the last price hike of September 16, the current petrol price is Rs. 123.30, and the diesel price is Rs. 120.04. The current prices of light diesel and kerosene oil are Rs. 90.69 and Rs. 92.26, respectively.

The government has been playing with petrol prices and public emotions for a few months now. From June to September, there’s been much drama in the petroleum department. We had four price hikes in two months, then a month of relief, followed by a massive increase in petrol prices. Holding our breath to see what happens this time.

As mentioned earlier, Prime Minister Khan has not yet approved the price hike in petroleum goods. Let’s see whether he gives the go-ahead to the proposed price changes or not. Stay tuned to find out. We’ll update you with the new prices as soon as we get the news.

Do you think the government will increase the petrol prices this time? If yes, how much will the prices of petroleum goods increase? What impact will the expected hike have on local consumers? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section.
