Only 125 MG HS Sold, Kia Sales Dropped by 50% Last Month

The automotive market of Pakistan is still phasing through a tough period; as sales are down, the industry is facing a production shutdown along with government red tape in clearing imported materials and products. The data by Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) shows a slump in sales of Big3, i.e., Toyota, Honda, and Suzuki. Additionally, companies like Kia Lucky Motors and MG Pakistan also showed a considerable drop in their sales last month.

It is pertinent to mention that both these companies are not members of PAMA and don’t provide their production and sales numbers to the association. We will be quoting the economists and market sources for the following numbers of MG and Kia.

Only 125 MG HS Sold

In December 2022, MG Pakistan, the locally assembled MG HS, named Essence. The company offered all the specs and features available in the imported units. The company was surely expecting a positive response from the consumers because imported HS was a hit and CKD was much-awaited. However, the reports suggest otherwise, as economist Ali Khizar tweeted: “MG-HS has recently launched its CKD version. They have availability of over 600 units but are only able to sell 125 cars in one month. The market is dead slow.”

50% Sales Drop for Kia

In a second tweet, he shared information about the sales of Kia Lucky Motors. “Kia Lucky motors have five CKD models, which all are readily available to buy,” he wrote, adding, however, the company’s sales are down by more than 50%.

“The market is dead slow,” he concluded.

Talking with us, Khizar quoted his own sources; hence, he cannot reveal their names. Meanwhile, PakWheels.com contacted officials of MG and Kia for a comment on this news; however, hasn’t received any response until publishing this blog. We will add the company’s reply once we get one.

  1. Captain says

To my utter dissatisfaction and owner of KIA, spare parts are damn expensive. Also kept Mercedes, FORTUNERS, and Honda CIVIC latest models, but KIA is damn expensive to maintain. Wrote to KIA but to no avail. Service of company desperately needs uplift to massive scale. Accumulating all these factors coupled with ongoing economic crisis, brought sales down. Minus economy, KIA needs to wake up, else would be DOOMED soon. A serious call ☎️
