These days, 7-seater crossver SUV is the most happening car segment of the Pakistani auto market. After the latest launch of Changan Oshan X7, we have got another Chinese 7-seater, Chery Tiggo 8 Pro.

We are here to let the new 7-seater battle it out with its four competitors in the market. It’s Tiggo 8 Pro vs. Oshan X7 Comfort vs. DFSK Glory 580 Pro vs. Kia Sorento 2.4 FWD vs. Toyota Fortuner 2.7 G.

Dimensions

Glory 580 Pro is a C-segment crossover, Tiggo 8 Pro and Oshan X7 are C+ segment crossovers, Sorento is a D-segment crossover, and Fortuner is a D-segment SUV. Here are the dimensions of these five cars.

Tiggo 8 Pro is 4722 mm in length, 1860 mm in width, and 1705 mm in height.

Oshan X7 is 4730 mm in length, 1870 mm in width, and 1720 mm in height.

Glory 580 Pro is 4680 mm in length, 1845 mm in width, and 1715 mm in height.

Sorento is 4800 mm in length, 1890 mm in width, and 1685 mm in height.

Fortuner is 4795 mm in length, 1855 mm in width, and 1835 mm in height.

Out of the four, Fortuner is the biggest in size.

Engine & Transmission

Tiggo 8 Pro has a 1.6-litre turbocharged TGDi engine that produces 195 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque with a 7-speed DCT and three drive modes (Normal, ECO, Sport).

Oshan X7 has a 1.5-litre turbocharged TGDI Euro-6 engine that produces 185 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque with a 7-speed DCT and four drive modes (ECO, Comfort, Sport, Custom). 

Glory 580 Pro has a 1.5-litre SFG Euro-5 engine that produces 150 horsepower and 220 Nm of torque with CVT and two drive modes (Normal, Sport). 

Sorento has a 2.4-litre DOHC Theta-II engine that produces 170 horsepower and 225 Nm of torque with a 6-speed automatic transmission and three drive modes (ECO, Comfort, Sport).

Fortuner has a 2.7-litre 2TR-FE engine that produces 163 horsepower and 245 Nm of torque with a 6-speed automatic transmission and two drive modes (ECO, Power).

The newbies Tiggo 8 Pro and Oshan X7 are the most powerful ones from the 7-seater bunch.

Exterior

Coming to the exterior styling, Oshan X7, Sorento, and Fortuner feature bi-function projector headlights. Tiggo 8 Pro and Glory 580 Pro have full LED headlights. All five have LED DRLs and LED tail lights.

Oshan X7, Glory 580 Pro, and Sorento have electrically adjustable, retractable, heated side-view mirrors. Tiggo 8 Pro and Fortuner miss out on the heated side mirror feature. Tiggo 8 Pro’s side mirrors have a memory function.

Tiggo 8 Pro, Oshan X7, Glory 580 Pro, and Sorento have panoramic sunroof, Fortuner doesn’t.

Oshan X7, Sorento, and Fortuner have manual tailgates. Tiggo 8 Pro and Glory 580 Pro have powered tailgate. Glory 580 Pro has extra frills like smart trunk opener and a kick sensor feature to open and close the trunk.

Fortuner has 17-inch alloy, Sorento, Glory 580 Pro, and Tiggo 8 Pro have 18-inch alloy wheels, and Oshan X7 has 19-inch alloy wheels.

All four cars have their unique appearances. Fortuner’s looks are aggressive, Sorento’s soft, Glory’s bold, Oshan’s futuristic, and Tiggo 8’s modern. Which one’s more appealing to you depends on your personal taste.

Interior

Inside the cabins, we have leather seats in Tiggo 8 Pro, Oshan X7, Glory 580 Pro, and Sorento and fabric seats in Fortuner. Tiggo 8 Pro has 10-way powered driver and 4-way powered front passenger seats. Oshan X7 Comfort has 6-way powered driver and 6-way manually adjustable front passenger seats. Glory 580 Pro has a 6-way powered driver and 4-way powered front passenger seats. Sorento 2.4 FWD has a 10-way powered driver and 4-way manually adjustable front passenger seats. Fortuner 2.7 G has 6-way manually adjustable driver and front passenger seats. Neither of the four has heated or ventilated seats.

Oshan X7 Comfort, Glory 580 Pro, and Fortuner 2.7 G have a single-zone automatic climate control system with second row AC vents. Tiggo 8 Pro and Sorento 2.4 FWD has a dual-zone automatic climate control system with second and third row AC vents. Glory 580 Pro is the only one with no rear AC vents.

For the instrument cluster, Tiggo 8 Pro has a 12.3-inch TFT LCD, Oshan X7 Comfort has a 7-inch digital LCD, Glory 580 Pro has a 7-inch TFT LCD, Sorento 2.4 FWD has a 3.5-inch TFT LCD, and Fortuner 2.7 G has a 4.2-inch TFT LCD screen. 

For the infotainment system, Tiggo 8 Pro and Oshan X7 have 10.25-inch touchscreens with voice recognition, Glory 580 Pro has a 7-inch floating touchscreen with voice recognition, Sorento 2.4 FWD has a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and Fortuner 2.7 G has a 8.95-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

The steering wheels in Oshan X7 Comfort and Glory 580 Pro only have tilt adjustment, the ones in Tiggo 8 Pro, Sorento, and Fortuner have both tilt and telescopic adjustments.

Again, Tiggo 8 Pro takes the lead with its luxurious and most feature-rich interior.

Safety

All five cars have cruise control, ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution), BA (Brake Assist), TC (Traction Control), and Hill Hold Control.

Oshan X7 Comfort, Sorento 2.4 FWD, and Fortuner 2.7 G have a rear camera, Tiggo 8 Pro and Glory 580 Pro have360° cameras. Glory 580 Pro also has a DVR (Digital Video Recorder).

Tiggo 8 Pro, Oshan X7 Comfort, and Glory 580 Pro have rear parking sensors, Sorento 2.4 FWD has parking sensors at the front and rear, while Fortuner 2.7 G does not have parking sensors.

We have TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) and ESP (Electronic Stability Program) in Tiggo 8 Pro, Oshan X7, and Glory 580 Pro. TPMS is missing in Sorento 2.4 FWD and Fortuner 2.7 G. 

Tiggo 8 Pro has six airbags, Oshan X7 Comfort and Glory 580 Pro have four airbags, Sorento and Fortuner have two airbags.

Oshan X7 Comfort has a proximity sensor for smart entry and exit and an on-board car diagnostic system. Tiggo 8 Pro has a suite of safety features such as Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Front Collision Warning, Traffic Sign Distinguishing, and Intelligent High Beam Control.

Tiggo 8 Pro has the most safest features than other four 7-seaters.

Price

For Pakistanis, price is the biggest deciding factor behind their car purchase. And the price of Glory 580 Pro is the lowest, followed by Oshan X7 Comfort, Tiggo 8 Pro, Sorento 2.4 FWD, and Fortuner 2.7 G.

Glory 580 Pro costs Rs. 5,400,000. Oshan X7 Comfort costs Rs. 6,050,000. Tiggo 8 Pro costs Rs. 6,599,000. Sorento 2.4 FWD costs Rs. 6,836,000. And Fortuner 2.7 G costs Rs. 9,959,000.

What we have gathered from this feature comparison, Oshan X7 and Glory 580 Pro provide the best value for money. Both are great options for a 7-seater family crossover SUV under 6 million rupees. If you have the budget, Tiggo 8 Pro is also worth it.

Fortuner and Sorento have a different fanbase. Fortuner carries the Toyota legacy and the aggressiveness of an SUV.  Sorento has Kia’s brand name and solid build quality. Both these companies have a stronger network in Pakistan than Changan and Prince DFSK. People usually go for Fortuner because it’s a Toyota SUV with resale value.
