Over-Speeding on Motorway – 5 More FIRs Registered

With an aim to curb over-speeding, the Motorway Police have intensified their crackdown on reckless driving by registering FIRs against vehicles exceeding the speed limit. According to their spokesperson, FIRs are now being lodged against drivers who exceed 150 km/h on national motorways.

Recent Cases of Overspeeding

Recently, two vehicles were booked on the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway, while three others faced penalties on Motorways M4 and M5. The Motorway Police detained the drivers along with their vehicles and handed them over to local police. FIRs were filed against them, including charges of negligence and overspeeding.

A day back, in a similar case, a vehicle was caught speeding at a dangerously high 173 km/h, blatantly violating the prescribed speed limit. As part of strict enforcement, legal action was taken against the driver under sections related to negligence and overspeeding.

The speed limit on three-lane motorways is 120 km/h for private cars and 110 km/h for public service vehicles. Authorities have urged motorists to follow these limits to ensure road safety and prevent fatal accidents.

Nationwide Campaign

Under the directives of IG Motorway Police, Rafat Mukhtar Raja, a nationwide campaign against overspeeding is in full swing. This initiative aims to reduce road accidents and promote responsible driving on highways. The crackdown reflects the authorities’ commitment to enforcing traffic laws strictly.

Motorway Police spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmed emphasized that ensuring safe and secure travel on highways remains their top priority. He urged drivers to obey speed limits and traffic regulations to avoid severe legal consequences. Violators not only risk penalties but also endanger lives.

With stricter enforcement and legal actions, the Motorway Police aim to curb reckless driving and create safer roads. Authorities continue to warn motorists that those caught violating speed limits will face strict penalties, ensuring a safer highway experience for everyone.
