PAMA – Car Sales Surged by Record 73% Last Month

Once again, this month, we bring you insights into the earnings of local car assemblers from last month’s sales, along with a detailed comparison of vehicles and companies. We’ll explore the latest figures from the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) report.

Following a nominal 3% increase in December 2024, January this year, saw a record surge of massive 73%. Carmakers sold 17,010 units last month, compared to 9,820 in Dec ’24. Similarly, year-on-year sale has also grown by a substantial 61%. Local manufacturers managed to sell 17,010 cars in January 2025, compared to just 10,536 units during the same period in 2024.

Two & Three wheelers

Local motorcycle and three-wheeler manufacturers witnessed 18% month-on-month growth last month, with sales reaching 139,161 units. This is a 33% year-on-year increase compared to the 104,619 units sold in January 2024.

Atlas Honda: The market leader, Atlas Honda, recorded a 15% month-on-month increase, selling 115,557 units in last month compared to 100,911 units in Dec ‘24.

Pak Suzuki: Pak Suzuki also witnessed positive momentum, with a 26% month-on-month increase. The company sold 2,348 bikes in January 2025, up from 1,870 units in January 2025.

The rise in motorcycle sales reflects a strong demand for two-wheelers in the local market. This trend is likely driven by factors such as rising fuel prices and the growing need for cost-effective transportation options.

Trucks & Buses

Sales of trucks and buses have been increased by whopping 222% last month selling 621 units compared to 193 in December2024.

Company-Wise Sales Breakdown

Toyota Pakistan’s sales increased by huge 102%, selling 3,335 units last month compared to 1,655 vehicles in Dec ‘24.

However, Honda Atlas sales narrate a similar story, saw a jump of mighty 99%, selling 2,210 units last month compared to 1,110 units in Dec ’24.

Pak Suzuki Motors Company (PSMC) sales increased by 37%, selling 8,250 vehicles in January this year against 6,016 cars in December 2024.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Nishat sales observed an increase of 14%, selling 1,044 units last month compared to 918 units in Dec ‘24. Moreover, Sazgar Engineering (SAZEW) sold 161 vehicles last month.

It is worth mentioning that sales numbers for Kia Lucky Motors, Master Changan Motors, Regal Motors, MG Motors, and Al-Haj Proton are not included in the report as they are not PAMA members.

Car-Wise Sales Breakdown

Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) sold 5,039 units of Alto, 475 units of Suzuki Cultus, 242 units of Suzuki Wagon R, 1,060 units of Suzuki Swift, 138 units of Suzuki Bolan, 840 units of Suzuki Ravi and 456 units of Every.

Toyota Indus sold 2,149 units of Corolla, Yaris, and Corolla and 1,186 units of Fortuner and Hilux.

Honda Atlas sold 1,985 units of City and Civic, and 225 units of BR-V and HR-V.

Hyundai Nishat sold 157 units of Elantra, 167 units of Sonata, 147 units of Porter, and 348 units of Tucson.
