PAMA Report: Car Sales Declines 58% In July 2022

The prevailing economic fuss led by rupee depreciation, dollar rate breaching the records, new taxes, growing inflation, and back-to-back price hikes reported remark after remark – ruin the people’s purchasing power which in turn drops the demand.

Whereas non-issuance of LCs added fuel to the fire of the discontent– urged the local automakers to cut the production days which directly affected sales charts.

What PAMA Report Translates?

The PAMA Report has revealed the sales figures for July 2022 – warrant serious reflection. Here, the number game translates that car sales dropped by 58 percent last month.

As per reports, car sales in July stood at 11,883 units compared to 28,379 units in June 2022.

Company-Wise Sales Breakdown

Toyota Indus had observed the lowest numbers – a sharp decrease in sales of its prominent cars Corolla/Yaris and Fortuner/Hilux because of non-production days in July 2022. The company observed sales of 2,375 units last month compared to 6309 units in June 2022. (MoM decline: 62%)

Whereas Honda Atlas car sales went down to 2,537 units compared to 6,903 units in June. (MoM decline: 35%)

Hyundai Nishat faces the same fate. The company witnessed a massive downturn, selling 201 units in July compared to 1,871 units in June 2022. (MoM decline: 89%)

Coming to the Pak Suzuki Motors Company (PSMC), the company sold 6,679 units and exhibited the lowest monthly sales. (MoM decline: 58%)

It is pertinent to mention that all other car companies, Kia Lucky Motors, Master Changan Motors, Regal Motors, MG Motors, and Al-Haj Proton, are not PAMA members. Their sales numbers are not included in the report.

Car-Wise Sales Breakdown

Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company sold 4,618 units of Alto, 661 units of Suzuki Cultus, 282 units of Suzuki Wagon R, 321 units of Suzuki Swift, and 353 units of Suzuki Bolan, and 444 units of Suzuki Ravi.

Toyota Indus sold 1,734 units of Corolla and Yaris and 641 units of Fortuner and Hilux.

Honda Atlas sold 2,408 units of Civic and City and 129 units of BR-V.

Hyundai Nishat sold 0 units of Elantra and Sonata, 98 units of Porter, and 104 units of Tucson.
