Peshawar Rolls Out Mandatory Bike Registration to Combat Crime

PESHAWAR: In a bold move to curb the alarming rise in street crimes involving motorcycles, Peshawar Police have announced mandatory online registration for all bike riders across the city.

The new directive, unveiled this week, aims to tighten oversight on riders and dismantle the ease with which criminals exploit unregistered vehicles.

Under the initiative, every motorcyclist, including riders for app‑based services, must complete an online registration process before they can legally operate within city limits.

The police have stressed that this digital database will strengthen real‑time tracking and enable authorities to act swiftly against suspects involved in thefts, snatchings, and other offenses often carried out on two‑wheelers.

The registration portal is live now, and officers have urged all riders to comply immediately to avoid legal consequences.

In a related development, the neighboring district of Mansehra is considering a similar initiative following a spike in motorbike-related crimes in the area.

Authorities in Mansehra have indicated that they will adopt the online registration model used in Peshawar to enhance security and track criminal activity more effectively.

This decisive action in both Peshawar and the upcoming move in Mansehra marks a significant step in the region’s battle against street crime, placing technology at the forefront of community safety.
