Price of Petrol and High-speed diesel goes up today
We reported earlier that Government might increase the price of petroleum products in the country due to the rise of crude oil price globally. OGRA (Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority) had recommended an increase of Rs.2.49 per liter for petrol and Rs.5.19 per liter for high-speed diesel from November. And now as reported the government has issued the notification to change the prices of petroleum products.

Starting from today, November 1, 2017, the prices have been changed, the price of petrol goes up by Rs.2.49 per liter, and high-speed diesel by Rs.5.19, Kerosene by Rs.5.19 and lastly the price of light diesel by Rs.3 per liter. It is pertinent to mention here that some media outlets were reporting that only the price of petrol and high-speed diesel would increase and the price of other petroleum products such as light diesel and kerosene oil would remain unchanged. However, the government has changed the prices of all petroleum products. On the contrary, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority had recommended an increase of Rs15.99 in the price of superior Kerosene oil and Rs.12.63 in the price of light diesel oil, but the government didn’t go with prices proposed by the regulatory authority.

The price of crude oil in internal markets went up to $60 per barrel from $52 barrel during October.
The previous price of petrol products are as follow:
Petrol Rs.73.50 per liter
High-speed diesel Rs.79.40 per liter
Light-diesel oil Rs.49 per liter
Kerosene oil Rs.49 per liter
And now the new prices are:
Petrol Rs.75.99 per liter
High-speed diesel Rs.84.59 per liter
Light-speed diesel Rs.49 per liter
Kerosene oil Rs.53.19 per liter
The increase in the price of petroleum products not only will affect the fares of buses and taxis but it will also impact the prices of groceries as well.
