Peugeot Pakistan Suspends Car Bookings

In the face country’s dwindling economy and the rupee’s major free-fall, the local car assemblers are making instant decisions pertaining to car prices and bookings. Following KIA Lucky Motors, Peugeot Pakistan also closed the booking of its cars till further notice.

Previously, Toyota Indus motor, Honda Atlas and Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) increased their car prices, featuring the first hike of 2023.

Kia Closes Bookings of All Cars

Narrating the fresh update regarding the bookings of KIA Pakistan. A number of company dealerships have told PakWheels.com that all models’ bookings are closed now. “From noon today, the bookings are closed,” the dealerships informed. Different dealership officials say the current deliverable stock of all cars is finished. “The company is not taking the orders for new productions as yet,” the dealerships stated.

It means the car assembler has stopped the bookings abruptly, although the price lock offer was till January 31, 2023. Furthermore, there is no information when the bookings will be open again.

Meanwhile, a Kia Motors Lucky One dealership has told its customers that “due to volatile Forex situation of USD/PKR, we are temporarily suspending bookings of Kia vehicles on immediate basis.” The statement further read that the they are monitoring the situation and booking shall resume once there is more clarity.”

PKR Plunged by Rs. 7.17

The fresh episode commenced with currency plunged by Rs. 24.54 to a record low of Rs. 255.43 in interbank yesterday – recorded as the major downtrend since the new exchange rate system was introduced in 1999. And interestingly, the depreciation doesn’t conclude here – the rupee continued to witness a steep dip in the interbank even today, trading at Rs 262.6 per dollar. Meaning, the Pakistani rupee devalued again by Rs. 7.17 from the last close.
