Police Shares Tips to Avoid Bike Theft In Pakistan
Bike theft is unfortunately an aggravating issue in Pakistan, especially in urban areas. Bikes are often targeted in the face of their relatively low security measures compared to cars. In a tweet, Lahore police shared some precautionary measures to avoid bike theft in Pakistan.
Here are the tips:
- Park in designated parking lot
- don’t forget to take parking slip
- Always apply double lock (bike without a lock is more vulnerable to theft)
- Choose a well-lit and visible location
Note:
In the event of bike theft, it is crucial to report the incident to the police helpline at 15. By promptly reporting to the police, you can help prevent criminals from misusing your vehicle and increase the chances of recovering your stolen bike.

Additional Measures
You can also follow these steps to ward off any uneven incident of motorcycle theft:
- Use a high-quality lock: Invest in a strong U-lock or chain lock that is difficult to break. Avoid using flimsy cable locks that can be easily cut.
- Lock your bike to a fixed object: Always secure your bike to a fixed and immovable object, such as a bike rack, sturdy post, or fence. Make sure the object you’re locking your bike to is well anchored and not easily removable.
- Lock both the frame and wheels: Use your lock to secure both the frame of your bike and at least one of the wheels. This makes it more difficult for thieves to remove parts of your bike or ride away with it.
- Consider additional security measures: Consider using additional anti-theft devices such as cable locks, wheel locks, or even GPS trackers that can help you locate your bike in case it gets stolen.
- Keep your bike indoors: Whenever possible, store your bike indoors, preferably in a locked garage or inside your home. This significantly reduces the risk of theft.
Mind you, no security measure is foolproof, but by implementing these tips, you can significantly reduce the risk of bike theft in Pakistan or any other location. Stay vigilant and proactive in protecting your bike.
