Chairman PAC Urged To Improve The Quality Of Petrol

After the price hike series, there is a new headline pertaining to Petrol: “PSO’s petrol doesn’t suit car engines.”

During a meeting, Chairman Public accounts committee Noor Alam Khan lambasted Petroleum Secretary Ali Raza Bhutta for the low-quality of PSO’s Petrol.

The chairman claimed that Pakistan State Oil’s Petrol makes car engines lose their power and performance. “After refueling with PSO petrol, the car gets dizzy,” he added. Meanwhile, he directed the secretary to refine the quality of Petrol.

Moreover, he ordered the secretary to lower the burgeoning petrol prices or at least match the international market to trickle down the effect to the infliction-stricken-salaried-class.

Increase in Petrol Price

Last week, the finance minister Miftah Ismail bragged about fuel prices, and when people were waiting for petrol prices to drop, a new petrol bomb dropped in the middle of the night.

After the latest price hike, current prices of petroleum products are:

Petrol Levy and Sales Tax

The current government has agreed to take Petrol Levy (PL) to Rs. 50 under a deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Furthermore, the Sales Tax would also be taken to 17% under the same deal. Currently, the PL is Rs. 20, while there is 0% Sales Tax, so it means that we could see more price hikes in the future.

But the global fuel prices are coming down, which is a good news for all of us. Let us see what decision the government takes in the coming days.
