Punjab Govt Plans to Give Electric Scooties to Female Teachers

The skyrocketing petrol prices have made the daily commute a challenge for every Pakistani. Everyone is making calculations of their day to day fuel expenses and trying to find ways to minimise those expenses.

The government has recently announced to cut the Metro bus fare in half to help the public. And now, the Punjab government has proposed to provide electric scooties to female teachers in public schools. The provincial government has suggested the new scheme as ‘Pilot Project’ in the upcoming annual budget of 2022-23.

Pilot Project

As per media reports, the Punjab government has asked the Department of School Education to work on the Pilot Project to offer electric scooters to female teachers working in government schools. The government wants the Education Department to oversee the expenses and conditions of the project.

Let’s see if the Punjab government’s Pilot Project becomes a reality. The scheme will facilitate many working women and make their lives easier. The electric scooters will free them from the petrol chains and cut down their transportation expenses by a great deal.

Petrol Prices in Pakistan

After back to back Rs. 30 price hikes, petrol has crossed Rs. 200 for the first time in the country’s history. And the sad part is these fuel prices are bound to go up even further. In the words of our Finance Minister, Miftah Ismail — “the petrol price hikes are inevitable.”

Petrol now costs Rs. 209.86.

New Diesel rate is Rs. 204.15.

New rate of Kerosene Oil is Rs. 181.94.

Light Diesel Oil now costs Rs. 178.
