LAHORE — The Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced a ban on old, polluting buses emitting excessive smoke, aiming to curb air pollution in the region. This new policy targets all public transport, including school and hospital vehicles, as part of efforts to improve air quality.
Effective immediately, any vehicle that fails to meet emissions standards will face substantial fines and may be impounded. The EPA has directed all educational and healthcare institutions to inspect their fleets and ensure compliance with the new regulations.
The EPA emphasized that this initiative is part of the ongoing anti-smog campaign in Punjab’s urban centers. It is expected to reduce harmful emissions and improve air quality, ultimately protecting public health.
