Today we’re back with the owner’s review of Rehan Tanvir’s Toyota Hilux Revo. Eminently known as Rehan Japakboy, he is a well-known car enthusiast and YouTuber from Karachi, and in this review, he shares his experience with this newly acquired daily runner.

This particular car is an 8th gen Hilux which debuted in Pakistan in 2016 as the Revo. It initially came with a 1KD 3.0-liter diesel engine producing close to 170hp and 360Nm of torque configured with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Rehan recently bought this Revo and has done some exciting modifications to it, which we will find out in this review.

Interior

Starting off with the interior, which is the most distinctive part of this Revo, Rehan emphasized modifying it significantly. In his opinion, the interior is where a person spends most of his time, so he decided to modify it according to his desire. He first installed starlights in the roof, which has not been done in a Revo yet, this feature comes in high-end luxury cars, and he really liked the ambiance it provided. He also installed ambient lights on the dash, door panels, and footwells. The interior also features rear entertainment, an upgraded sound system, 7D flooring, and much more.

Exterior

Complementing the highly modified interior, the exterior does not fall behind and gets several upgrades done by the owner. Firstly, Rehan upgraded the previous alloys with Method 18-inch rims, which according to him, are the best in class for a Revo.

He installed a Hamer bull bar at the front and an armoured rear bumper eradicating all chrome parts and blacking out the exterior. He also installed aftermarket LED tail lights along with a massive antenna lodged onto the front bumper.

Performance

Along with cosmetics, the owner has also done some performance upgrades to the engine. This Revo’s ECU has been reflashed and tuned, increasing its power by 50 hp and 100 nm of torque only with the help of its software. The car is currently producing around 220 hp and 460 nm of torque which is a decent amount of power for a daily driven car without compromising on fuel efficiency.

Fuel Average

Talking of fuel efficiency, the owner is pretty satisfied with the Revo’s fuel average compared to his previous Fortuner, which gave him 6 to 7 km/l at max. The owner easily gets ten km/l within the city despite the power upgrade and an additional 2 to 3 km/l on the highway.

Comfort

Having a leaf-spring suspension, the Revo’s off-road capabilities are top-notch, however, it is known for its mediocre on-road comfort. As per the owner, it is not very comfortable, especially on long travel; hence he installed shackles to help it absorb uneven surfaces more smoothly. The suspension is still a bit stiff, and the owner plans to upgrade the full suspension in the near future.
