ISLAMABAD – In a move to ensure the smooth distribution of petroleum products and protect consumer rights, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner has issued a critical public advisory.
Citizens are now being urged to immediately report any petrol pump within the capital territory that refuses to provide petrol or diesel to the public.
The announcement comes as part of a proactive effort by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Islamabad, to curb artificial shortages and discourage hoarding practices that often lead to public distress.
According to the official directive, fuel stations are legally obligated to maintain and supply consumers as long as stocks are available.
Strict Orders Regarding Price Hikes
Following recent reports of potential increases in petroleum prices, the District Administration has issued additional stern instructions to petrol pump owners.
The administration has clarified that no fuel station may increase prices before 12:00 AM (midnight) on the date of implementation.
Furthermore, all owners must ensure a continuous and uninterrupted supply of fuel to the public leading up to the midnight deadline.
Any attempt to prematurely hike prices or shut down operations to “save” stock for higher rates will be met with immediate legal action. The official notification of any price increase takes effect only after midnight.
How to File a Complaint
The District Administration has established multiple channels for rapid reporting. If you encounter a refusal or witness illegal price hikes before the scheduled time at any fuel station in Islamabad, you are requested to contact the Islamabad District Administration Control Room through the following methods:
- Helpline: 051-9108084
- Social Media: Direct message the official handles of the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad (@dcislamabad on Twitter/X or /ictaofficial on Facebook).
Ensuring Fair Distribution
The district administration emphasized that public cooperation is vital in maintaining a fair fuel supply for everyone.
By reporting these incidents immediately, the authorities can dispatch teams to verify stock levels and ensure compliance with the official pricing schedule.
