Sindh’s Digital Traffic Shift: E-Ticketing Expands to Seven Districts

146

Sindh Police is set to expand its “faceless” electronic e-ticketing system to seven more districts following a successful pilot in Karachi. The plan was finalized at a review meeting chaired by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Ghulam Nabi Memon, at the Central Police Office in Karachi.

The first phase of the expansion will cover the districts of Thatta, Khairpur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Mirpurkhas, Tando Muhammad Khan, and Larkana.

Under this system, traffic violations will be automatically detected using cameras and the Traffic Road Accident and Control System (TRACS), eliminating the need for manual, roadside challans.

Service centres are already set up, and staff training will commence soon. Public-awareness campaigns will also be launched to inform citizens about the new regulations, such as helmet use, seat-belt requirements, and proper vehicle number plates, before the system is fully implemented.

This move is designed to enhance the efficiency of traffic law enforcement by transitioning from traditional manual challans to a fully digital, faceless system across Sindh.

It is expected that the digital system will help streamline the process and reduce the need for cash transactions. The expanded e-ticketing system aims to increase transparency and consistency in how traffic fines are issued across the province.
