The Sindh government has approved a public-private partnership (PPP) project to establish an electric vehicle (EV) charging network across the province as part of efforts to promote green mobility and reduce carbon emissions.

Under the plan, the provincial government will provide Rs750 million to install 300 EV charging stations in the first phase at key locations across Sindh, according to an official statement issued through the provincial government’s media management office.

The project is being developed in collaboration with China’s ADM Group and Pakistan’s Malik Group of Companies, which aim to introduce modern fast-charging infrastructure to support the country’s growing electric mobility ecosystem.

Provincial Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said the initiative represents a significant step toward building a sustainable transport system in Sindh.

“This project will serve as a key milestone in reducing carbon emissions and promoting environmentally friendly energy solutions,”  the minister said.

As part of the broader initiative, ADM Group plans to invest around $90 million to establish 3,000 EV charging stations across Pakistan, strengthening the country’s electric mobility infrastructure.

Officials said the charging stations will be installed in major cities and along highways to ensure convenient access for electric vehicle users. The first phase of 300 stations forms part of the province’s wider plan to deploy more than 691 EV charging stations across Sindh.

Chairman of Malik Group of Companies, Malik Khuda Bakhsh, said the project would support the growth of green energy, modern transportation, and sustainable infrastructure while also creating employment opportunities for local youth.

Sindh authorities believe the initiative will help attract investment in electric vehicle technology and position the province as a key hub for EV infrastructure in Pakistan.
