Suzuki FX Fully Restored In Its Former Glory – Restoration Series

Today we’re back with the final episode of the Suzuki FX restoration series. In this video, we will show you the final look of this FX and brief you about the whole restoration process in detail. This particular car belonged to the owner’s father back, and it was parked in the owner’s garage as a memory of his father for the past 7 years. Our team decided to restore this car and bring it back to its charm.

Prior Condition

This FX, being parked for years, was not in a state to drive, and the engine needed a complete overhaul or replacement. The tires were flat, and the paint completely faded, with rust on several panels, including doors, engine bay, and even the front frame. The only thing good in the car was its interior, which had no missing trims and just needed detailing.

Restoration

Firstly, new tires were installed so the car could drive. After that, it was taken to the workshop, where the restoration process started. The whole car was stripped apart to inspect what part needed repairing or replacement. The engine and suspension were dismantled and replaced with new parts.

Meanwhile, the bodywork was done in which the rusted frame was welded and coated. New window channels were fitted, and missing trims were sourced. New headlamps, tail lamps, and bumpers were fitted to give the car a fresh look. Deep detailing of the interior and exterior was done, including compounding, engine degreasing, interior cleaning, etc. The restoration aimed not to modify or upgrade the car but to bring it back to how it came from the factory.

Restoration Cost And Time

The time period it took to restore this FX fully was a month, and luckily, almost all of the work done was carried out under one roof. As for the cost, around 1 lakh was spent on the engine and mechanical work while the total body work, labor, etc., cost around 170 to 180,000 rupees.

Other parts like tires, batteries, lights, etc., cost another lakh, bringing the landed cost to around 370 to 380,000 rupees to bring this car back on its feet for another 10 years.
