Suzuki GR 150 vs United CCR 150: Brand Trust or Budget Value?
Today, if you want to buy a 150cc motorcycle, you have about eight options to choose from, both from Chinese and Japanese manufacturers
Of these eight, the three strongest rivals in this category are the Honda CB 150F, the Suzuki GR 150, and the Chinese-made United CCR150.
Let’s start by comparing the three best rivals, starting with the GR 150 and the United CCR150, as both are rivals but very different from each other.
One comes from a known Japanese brand, Suzuki. The other comes from United, with a Chinese-style value package at a much lower price.
Here is a comparison of the two bikes.
What’s Suzuki GR 150?
The Suzuki GR 150 was launched in Pakistan in 2017 as an upgraded version of the GS150. But make sure you do not confuse it with the GS150.
Both are based on very different philosophies.
The GS150 has old roots and has been sold in Pakistan since 2005. On the other hand, the GR 150 was designed and engineered in China by Qingqi Suzuki around 2013-14.
The goal of GR was to replace aging, vibrating 150cc commuter engines (like the older GS designs) with something smoother for the Asian market.
Suzuki engineered a brand-new 150cc OHC (Overhead Camshaft) engine equipped with a built-in counter-balancer to eliminate high-RPM vibrations, packed it into the GR 150, and launched it in the Chinese and Thai markets in 2015.
In 2017, after its success in Thailand and China, it was brought to Pakistan.
Until 2019, it was sold as a Thailand-imported CBU version; in mid-2019, local assembly of the GR 150 began in Pakistan.
The unique selling point of this motorcycle is its comfort and ride quality. Take all the 150cc bikes on the market; no one can beat the GR in the comfort category.
Its seat is as soft as a sofa, the suspension is plush, and the engine is so smooth that no vibrations reach the handlebars and seat.
What’s United CCR 150?
The United CCR 150 was launched in Pakistan as a low-cost 150cc motorcycle in late 2024.
Its design takes too much inspiration from the Honda CB 150F. The fuel tank, side covers, headlight area, and overall stance look familiar.
But the main point of the United CCR 150 is not originality. Its main point is the price-and-value-for-money proposition.
At around Rs 330,000 in the local market, it is one of the cheapest brand-new 150cc motorcycles in Pakistan.
This makes it attractive to buyers who want a 150cc bike with the same specs as the GR or CB but do not want to spend 400,000.
Although it’s a Chinese motorcycle, its build and ride quality are acceptable, and within a 330,000 budget, it is a recommended choice with good resale value nowadays.
It cannot match the GR 150 in brand value, refinement, ride comfort, or long-term resale confidence. But it costs much less, which matters in a price-sensitive market like Pakistan, where people can make or break the deal over as little as Rs 5,000.
Price Difference
There’s a huge difference between these two bikes:
- The Suzuki GR 150 costs Rs 553,000.
- The United CCR 150 costs around Rs 340,000.
That means the Suzuki costs Rs 213,000 more.
And this is where the United takes the edge. It offers a 150cc engine, alloy rims, dipper, self-start, and CB-like looks at a price closer to that of some Japanese 125cc motorcycles.
Engine and Ride Feel
In engine smoothness, the Suzuki GR 150 wins by a country mile.
The GR is one of the smoothest 150cc motorcycles you can buy brand new in Pakistan. Its ride feel is close to some higher-budget imported bikes in this category, like Benelli’s 150 and Lifan’s 150.
All credits go to its balancer shaft engine. A balancer shaft means there’s a counterbalance that moves in the opposite direction of the crankshaft, canceling out the vibrations. And the GR engine controls vibrations very well, better than other 150cc balancer shaft engines in the competition.
The soft seat also adds to comfort; it’s as soft as a sofa, so very minimal vibrations reach the seat.
There are almost no vibrations on the handlebars or seat. The only vibrations the rider will feel are at the footrests, because the footpegs are mounted on the engine side.
Even at 90 to 100 km/h, the GR 150 stays composed. Minor vibrations do appear, but they are not irritating.
The United CCR150 is also smooth for a Chinese 150cc motorcycle. It is better than many other Chinese models, especially the Infinity 150.
But it is not as smooth as the GR 150. Some vibrations will be felt on the seat and handlebars. They are not too much, but the difference is noticeable when the bikes are ridden back-to-back.
Comfort and Suspension
The GR 150 takes the lead again in comfort.
Its seat is soft, wide, and plush. The suspension is also tuned for comfort, so small road bumps and rough patches do not feel harsh.
The United CCR150 is also comfortable, but it feels more sporty. Its suspension is hard and not as soft as the GR 150.
Still, it is better than many Chinese motorcycles in this price range. For city use, it is decent. But for long rides and rough roads, the GR 150 feels way better.
Design and Looks
In design, the United CCR150 takes the lead.
The GR 150 has a utility-style design. It looks good, but not very exciting. This is one reason many young buyers ignore it.
The United CCR150 looks sportier. Its design is inspired by the Honda CB 150F, and the wide silencer stance gives it a younger look.
Design is subjective, of course. Some riders may still prefer the clean look of the GR 150.
But for most buyers, the CCR150 looks more appealing.
Build Quality and Brand Trust
In brand trust, there is no competition.
Suzuki has a huge 3S dealership network across Pakistan, trained technicians, official parts support, and proper after-sales service.
The GR 150 also comes with an official Suzuki warranty, which can be claimed through authorized Suzuki dealerships nationwide.
United is different. It works more like a commodity. Once you buy the bike, you are mostly dependent on the selling dealer or private market support.
If a warranty is offered on the CCR150, it is usually dealership-based. That means it may only be claimed from the same dealer, not from a nationwide company network like Suzuki.
This after-sales network matters a lot for long-term ownership.
Parts and Maintenance
Both bikes have their own cost problems.
The Suzuki GR 150 is not cheap to maintain. Its original parts are very expensive. For example, the original front brake pads can cost around Rs. 3,500, the speedometer around Rs. 15,000, the taillight around Rs. 4,000, and the silencer around Rs. 45,000.
The United CCR150 is cheaper in parts, but sourcing is an issue. Parts may not always be readily available, and buyers may need to rely on specific dealers or the open market.
So the GR 150 has expensive parts but better availability.
The CCR150 has cheaper parts but weaker sourcing confidence.
Which Bike Should You Buy?
Buy the Suzuki GR 150 if you want brand name, comfort, smooth ride quality, and long-term confidence.
It is expensive, but it is a better-built motorcycle. Its engine smoothness, seat comfort, and suspension are its strongest points.
But if your budget is tight, a used GR 150 can also make more sense than buying it brand new.
Buy the United CCR150 if you want a brand-new 150cc motorcycle and do not want to spend over Rs. 400,000.
It gives good value for the money, sporty looks, alloy rims, and a decent ride. It is also one of the better Chinese 150cc motorcycles currently available in Pakistan.
Final Verdict
The Suzuki GR 150 is the better bike overall.
It wins in comfort, engine smoothness, suspension, brand trust, and long-term peace of mind.
The United CCR150 is the better budget choice.
It cannot match the GR 150 in refinement, but it offers strong value for buyers who want a new 150cc bike at a lower price.
