Hello there, PakWheelers! Have you seen the brand-new Honda Vezel 2021? The 3rd generation Vezel that Honda has launched in its home market, Japan, fairly recently. Keeping our tradition, we have brought the first look review of this B-segment Hybrid sub-compact SUV. So, let’s get started.

Engine & Transmission

The new Vezel is powered by Honda’s latest e: HEV hybrid technology. The powertrain consists of two electric motors that drive the car, plus a 1.5L engine that acts as a generator and assists when needed.

According to Honda Japan, the new Vezel has the best fuel economy of 25 kilometers per liter, thanks to its efficient hybrid powertrain.

CVT has replaced the second-generation Honda Vezel’s 7-speed DCT gearbox in the new Vezel.

Honda Vezel 2021 EngineExterior

Coming to the exterior, Honda Vezel 2021 has striking looks. The design language has been copied from modern European and Chinese SUVs.

The flat hood stands out with two straight character lines on the left and right. Honda’s logo sits on the body-coloured grille with a blue outline, signifying a hybrid vehicle. Then, there is a honeycombed grille integrated with the bumper, followed by a piano black accent. The front fascia has an anodized aluminium bumper finish as its lip. DRLs, LED headlights, and fog lights are the other brilliant features at the front.

On the side profile, the car has beautiful diamond-cut 18-inch alloy wheels. A glossy black finish goes around the tyres and moves along the side, giving the SUV a tough look. The new Honda Vezel does not have any extra curves; there’s just a straight waistline that looks elegant. Body-colored side mirrors are massive in size and are integrated with the doors. A 360° lane watch camera, also known as Honda Sensing, is hiding beneath these mirrors. Back door handles are integrated with the windows in classic Vezel style. The sloping-back roofline extends to the rear with a shark fin antenna on top.

We see dotted LED tail lamps joined by a light bar with the same Honda logo at the back. Parking sensors are hidden in the bumper’s piano black accent. The rear ends with two reflectors and an anodized aluminium cladding, just like we have at the front.

The automatic trunk has sufficient boot space for a B-segment SUV. The trunk has dual LED lights, an air pump, and a tyre repair kit. The car does not come with a spare wheel. You can also adjust the trunk height with a convenient button at its top.

Interior

Honda has redefined several interior elements in the new Vezel, keeping everything clean and classy. The cabin has a welcoming feel, ready to give a premium experience to all passengers.

Start the engine with a push start button, and the 7-inch digital meter wakes up along with the speedometer. The driver can vary the information they want to see on the digital meter. The round leather-wrapped steering wheel is very practical, with cruise control and radar control buttons on the left, multimedia control buttons on the right, and paddle shifters. The steering wheel has both tilt and telescopic adjustment.

The driver has L-shape side air vents on the left with a control knob and automatic control buttons for door locks, windows, and retractable mirrors. These buttons are integrated into the door with a piano black finish.

The dashboard looks clean with a hard plastic top and soft plastic bottom separated by AC vents. A 9-inch infotainment screen sits in the centre with wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto functionality. Underneath the touchscreen lies the redefined dual-zone automatic climate control system. The new air-conditioning system has tactile knobs that look cool and are easy to use.

The gearbox has an elegant anodized aluminium lining with a piano black finish. The gear knob does not look very modern but goes with the car’s retro aesthetics. There’s a wireless charging dock for your phone and two USB sockets. The leather centre console has a very comfortable armrest and two size-adjustable cup holders. There are a few safety feature buttons just like other SUVs. The drive mode button is the most interesting one here that Honda has copied from Lamborghini.

Seats are made of semi-leather and fabric material with comfortable cushioning. The front seats are manually adjustable. There’s enough headroom and legroom for the front seats. The headroom is a little compromised for the rear passengers because of the sloping-back roof.

Since the Japanese are not fans of sunroofs, this Japanese model of the Honda Vezel does not have a panoramic sunroof. It has a hardtop, just the way the consumers like it.

Safety

There are plenty of safety features in the Honda Vezel 2021. Six airbags, anti-collision, lane assist, lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking, Electronic Brake Distributor system (EBD) with ABS, hill-start assist, and more.

Price

This imported Japanese Honda Vezel model will cost you Rs. 78 lacs.

Honda Vezel 2021 has an entirely different look and feel from the conventional Honda design. The second-generation Vezel had sharp cuts and curves and an overall immature look to attract young buyers. The third generation Vezel has a more matured look and a clean and retro feel.
