The National Highways & Motorway Poice has shut down Motorway M-1 (Sawabi to Burhan) and M-2 (Sheikhupura to Kalashah Kaku) for all traffic on Monday, March 18, 2019.
Apparently, this has been done in preparation for the Pakistan Day parade. However, in a news widely circulating on social media, this has been done to facilitate PAF exercises.
However, when PakWheels contacted motorways representative, he said that his department had not received any official notification to this effect and that the motorways were being shut down for construction work.
In related news, it was being shared on social media that speed radars had been installed on some parts of motorways. When contacted, the official spokesperson of the motorways told PakWheels that this was not confirmed and that he would be able to confirm or deny it after March 30, 2019.
