Afghan Taliban have dug up a Toyota car, used by their founder Mullah Omer, in Afghanistan after 20 years. According to media reports, Mullah Omer escaped from US forces in this car from Kandahar to Zabul province in 2001. To avoid arrest, he ordered to bury the car in a hole.

Now, the car has been excavated by the Taliban, and pictures show it wrapped in a plastic cover, and it is still in quite a good condition, although the front mirror is broken.

Taliban are planning to display this car in Afghan National Museum for the public. But for us, the main question is, which car is this exactly? Let us find out.

Which Car is This?

As per our research and experts, this is Toyota Corolla DX Wagon, and its model is 1996.

Engine

This car has a 1800cc DOHC 16-valves engine which produced 105hp and is mated with 5-speed manual transmission.

Dimensions

This vehicle is 1425mm high, 4370mm long, and 1685mm wide with a 2465mm wheelbase.

Safety

This DX Wagon came with ABS, with a disc brake at front and drum brake at the rear. And not so surprisingly, the car didn’t have any airbags.

Exterior and Interior

Both exterior and interior of this car were very basic, with halogen headlamps and rear lamps, mixed with a simple steering and one-tone interior color. All in all, it was very basic compared to today’s standards.

We hope that this information will be helpful for you. Also, this shows how sturdy the Toyota cars are; even after 20 years, the vehicle is in a quite good shape.
