Today we’re back with the owner’s review of a 2014 Toyota Land Cruiser 70 series. Regarding offroading, Toyota has brought out several capable machines for it over the years to the point where the company’s name is synonymous with offroading. The Land Cruiser 70 series is one of the most iconic Toyota models, which has been in production for 38 years.

It debuted in 1984, and several variants with different engines and body styles have been added throughout its production period to date. This particular car is a 2014 model, and it comes with the 1GR-FE 4.0 liter V6 engine producing around 236 hp and 367 nm of torque configured with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Interior

From 2010 onwards, Toyota updated its interior design to give it a bit of a modern look. However, the dash still gives the true to the original feel and is very basic and utilitarian. AC vents are rounded with a space for the infotainment system, analogue climate control, analogue instrument cluster but with a modern steering wheel design. The seats are fabric, and as this is a double-cabin, the rear seats are also pretty roomy.

Drive

The 70 series has always had torquey engines, which helps it hold the pulling power of more than twice its weight. As per the owner, the drive is unmatchable; with so much low-end torque, the engine smoothly drives at 800 RPM in the 4th gear without any problem. Toyota replaced leaf springs with shocks at the front, making the drive much more comfortable. Reliability is top-notch, it can run in any terrain and with any weight without even the slightest of problems, something which makes this car so special.

Fuel Average

Although irrelevant in such a purpose-built car, the owner shares the fuel average he gets from this 70 series. According to him, it does 5 to 6 km/l within the city, increasing by a kilometer or two on the highway if driven at constant speeds.

Maintenance And Spare Parts

The owner gets the oil changed every 3 to 3500 kilometers, costing around 8 to 10,000 rupees. Due to the newer engines, maintenance is not an issue, especially with something as tough as the 70 series. Spare parts are readily available, especially in Peshawar; genuine parts are expensive, but cheaper Chinese counterparts are also available.
