Three Lanes Of Kalma Chowk Now Open For Traffic

Kalma Chowk Update

The National Logistics Cell (NLC) has been hard at work on the Kalma Chowk underpass, Lahore, which will offer commuters a faster and more efficient route through the busy intersection. Despite the original completion date being scheduled for June 2023, the NLC has been working tirelessly to accelerate the project’s pace and has now completed three of the five lanes in just two months!

Due to the direction of the provincial government, the NLC has been able to facilitate the movement of dense traffic 24/7, allowing them to push forward with the underpass’s construction at an unprecedented pace. While there is still work to be done on the remaining two lanes of Kalma Chowk, the partial opening of the underpass is a huge win for commuters, who will benefit from reduced travel times and less congestion. However, the NLC has urged motorists to adhere strictly to traffic regulations and observe the speed limit to prevent any untoward incidents during this ongoing construction phase.

Akbar Chowk Update

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has also secured Rs. 3.1 billion for another massive infrastructure project: the Akbar Chowk underpass and flyover construction. This project will consist of a 540-meter-long underpass with two lanes on each side, as well as a 700-meter-long flyover with two lanes on both sides.

The new infrastructure will benefit an estimated 100,000 commuters daily and will be a huge relief for those living in Faisal Town, Johar Town, Township, Kot Lakhpat, and other neighboring communities. With a project completion timeframe of just three months, this will be a much-needed solution for the high volume of traffic in the area.

Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi has also issued special directives to the LDA to ensure the timely completion of the Akbar Chowk project.
