Tiggo 4 and Tiggo 8 Pro Prices Hiked After Withholding Tax

Not surprisingly, Chery Pakistan has announced a price hike for its crossover SUVs, Tiggo 4 Pro and Tiggo 8 Pro. However, the company has made a slight upgrade in the calculation of the price, as it has included the freight and insurance charges in its ex-factory prices. It is important to mention that only Pak Suzuki and Changan Pakistan had the same policy among the local car assemblers. 

In simple words, there are two changes in the price: the new ex-factory price (freight and insurance charges included) and the addition of a new Withholding Tax, which was imposed by the government in Budget 2024-25, so there is no role of the company in it. So, here are the revised prices of these two vehicles. 

Tiggo 4 and Tiggo 8 Pro Revised Prices 

• The new ex-factory price of Tiggo 4 Pro is Rs.  6,930,000 compared to the old Rs. 6,899,000, meaning the jump is Rs. 31,000; again, freight and insurance charges are now added to it. Meanwhile, the Withholding Tax for Filers is Rs. 139,986 and Rs. 419,958 for non-filers. 
• Tiggo 8 Pro will now cost Rs. 9,585,000 against the old rate of Rs. 9,550,000, meaning there is an increase of Rs. 35,000 after the inclusion of freight and insurance costs. The Withholding Tax for non-filers on this car is Rs. 193,617 and Rs. 580,851 for non-filers. 

The revised rates are applicable from July 1, 2024. 

About Withholding Tax 

In June 2024, the government proposed a new automotive tax policy on brand-new local cars. Under the revised policy, WHT tax on vehicles will now be calculated based on their value, i.e., the invoice price.  Prior to this policy, WHT was calculated based on engine size, but the new policy proposes to calculate it based on a percentage of the car’s value.

Note that the percentage is different for filers and Non-filers. Non-filers will pay a higher percentage of WHT than Filers.
