Sweltering summers are very dangerous for the battery of a car and if not taken proper care, it might lose its life energy drastically. Below, are 4 basic tips one can use to protect car’s battery in summer.

  • Keep the battery cool: One of the primary things to protect car’s battery is to keep it cool—meaning always park your vehicle under shade, rather than disposing it to sun rays. Due to hot temperature and heat the chemical reaction in the battery gets fast, which is not good for battery’s life, so always keep it cool. Furthermore, if you are using an old battery than there are higher chances of battery failure due to heat, so keep the battery cool if you don’t want it to happen to your car.
  • Turn off electronic appliances: Always remember to turn off all of the electronics appliances, when leaving the vehicle such as music/stereo system and air conditioning system etc. It will help the battery and give it extra time to discharge, which is good for battery’s life in a long run.
  • Inspect the battery on a daily basis: Check the car battery regularly to ensure that it is attached tightly and if not, do it the right way. Moreover, in the inspection process, if you see that the battery has been damaged in any way go straight to the mechanic and get it check to avoid battery failure on a hot summer day. Additionally, clean the terminals of the battery on the consistent basis.
  • Examine water level inside battery: Inspect each cell of the battery, and see if the fluid level in them is low if it is low then fill it up with distilled water. It is recommended not to use tap water or overfill them. By doing this, you can save your battery in summers as well as increase its life.

It is a common perception that battery deteriorates in winter faster than in summer; however, this notion is entirely wrong. Hot weathers lessen the life of battery quicker than winters.  So, it is advised not to take summers lightly and take the necessary measures to protect the battery in summer.
