Toyota Yaris GLi 1.3 CVT vs. Suzuki Ciaz 1.3 Auto: A brief comparison!

Toyota Indus Motor Company (IMC) is replacing the 1.3-liter variants of Corolla with the all-new Yaris in the country. The company has already started taking bookings of Toyota Yaris, which is available in six different variants i.e., four variants of 1.3-litre and two variants of 1.5-litre. The sedan will be competing with Honda City and Suzuki Ciaz in the local auto sector. Honda City is available in a total of six variants, whereas Suzuki Ciaz comes in two variants in the local auto market.

In this blog, we will be comparing the specifications and features of Toyota Yaris GLi 1329 cc CVT with Suzuki Ciaz 1373 cc Automatic. So, let’s have a look!

Engine & Performance:

Under the hood, Toyota Yaris has a 4-cylinder in-line 16-valve DOHC with dual VVT-I 1329 cc 1NR-FE engine with sequential multi-port fuel injection (SFI) system. It can generate a maximum output power of 98 hp at 6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 123 Nm at 4200 rpm. It’s paired to a 7-speed CVT / Sport Shift-Matic System.

On the other hand, Suzuki Ciaz comes with 4-cylinder 16-valve 1373 cc VVT K14B engine with a multi-point injection (MPI) system. It produces a maximum output power of 91 hp at 6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 130 Nm at 4000 rpm. The sedan is mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. Note here that Suzuki Ciaz comes as a completely built unit (CBU) in the country.

Braking & Suspension:

Toyota Yaris is incorporated with ventilated disc brakes at the front wheels and drum brakes at the rear side. For an enhanced braking experience, the automaker has also provided a Brake Assist (BA) system. The front suspension of Yaris GLi CVT is equipped with Mac Pherson Strut, whereas the rear suspension has a torsion beam.

Suzuki Ciaz has ventilated disc brakes at the front while the rear wheels have leading & trailing drum brakes. The suspension of Ciaz is powered by MacPherson strut with coil spring at the front wheels, whereas the rear ones have a torsion beam with coil spring.

Dimensions & Capacity:

The length and width of the Toyota Yaris are 4425 mm and 1730 mm, respectively. In terms of height, the car is 1475 mm tall. The wheelbase and minimum turning radius of the Toyota Yaris is 2550 mm and 5.1 meter. The luggage compartment has a capacity of 476 liters, whereas it comes with a fuel tank with up to 42 liters of fuel capacity.

In comparison to this, Suzuki Ciaz is comparatively more in length i.e., 4490 mm, while the width and height are exactly similar to Yaris i.e., 1730 mm and 1475 mm respectively. The wheelbase and minimum ground clearance of the car are 2650 mm and 160 mm, respectively. The minimum turning radius of Ciaz is 5.4 meters. In terms of storage space, the car has 490 liters of the luggage compartment and comes with 42 liters of a fuel tank.

Exterior:

Toyota Yaris is stylish and elegant in its outlook and resembles Corolla in many ways. At the front side, it has a 4-beam halogen lamp headlight while the daytime running lamp is missing in this particular variant. It has a pigmented front radiator grille. There are no fog lamps in this variant of Yaris. It has body-colored outside door handles, and side-view mirrors with integrated side turn signals. The windshield has a green lamination, and the front windscreen has intermittent wipers. On the rear side, there is a short pole antenna. Underneath it, there is a rear chrome garnish between the rear combination lamps. For an elegant appearance, the automaker has provided with LED line guide in the rear lamps and a reflex reflector at the bottom end of the rear bumper. The standard tyre size offered by the company is 185/60 R15, with steel wheels with full wheel caps.

The 1373 cc Suzuki Ciaz comes with projector halogen headlamps as standard with body-colored front and rear bumpers. The front radiator grille has a chrome garnish. The outside door mirrors and side-view mirrors are also body-colored. The windshield wipers operate at 2-speed control with adjustable intermittent and washer. The fender of the car has side turn signals installed in it. The standard tyre size in Ciaz is 185/65 R15, which comes with steel wheels with 15-inch full wheel covers. The rear end has a high mounted stop lamp installed as well.

Interior:

The 1329 cc Toyota Yaris GLi CVT is built with an incredible interior design that also offers a spacious cabin. It comes under ivory-colored fabric seats that fit in perfectly with the dual-tone interior of the car. The other salient features in the interior of Yaris are as mentioned below:

The automaker has provided with an in-dash Touch Audio System with 3 lines LCD display. It also offers a connectivity feature of advanced Bluetooth that includes 2 phones, hands-free, and seamless music streaming for up to 5 phones. It also has a USB and AUX connectivity feature along with MP3, CD player, and Radio. There are just 2 speakers provided by the auto manufacturer.

Suzuki Ciaz is equipped with a basic level entertainment system that includes AM/FM Radio, CD, MP3, and USB connectivity. It’s provided with a rear glass mounted antenna. The sedan has 4 speakers installed in all doors for entertainment purposes.

Price:

The CVT version of Toyota Yaris 1.3L GLi is introduced at a competitive price as compared to the 1.4L Auto variant of Suzuki Ciaz. Have a look!
