Traffic Police Share Tips to Visit Snow-Covered Murree

Last year, a tragedy hit Murree when 22 people died after being stuck in a snowstorm. The incident caused widespread criticism of authorities and the government. To avoid a similar incident this year, the government, especially Murree Traffic Police, is working vigilantly. In a recent video, the traffic police shared some tips and guidelines for tourists planning to visit the hill station to enjoy this season’s snowfall.

The police have shared the following tips and advice for tourists: 

Entry of Limited Cars in Murree

Yesterday, the government announced that only 8,000 vehicles would be allowed inside Murree during snowfall. Punjab Relief commissioner Naveed Ahmed Shirazi directed the relevant authorities to remove all hurdles from the roads and hold a grand mock exercise to tackle the snow. “13 relief centers have been established, while extra personnel of 1122 rescue workers and policemen have been posted to tackle any emergency,” the official said.

Furthermore, he banned the transfers of all officials from Murree during the snow season, while he urged the citizens to call 1129 in case of an emergency.
