Transfer Car Title of Deceased Person in Pakistan – Guide

In Pakistan, the process of transferring property ownership after the death of a loved one can be overwhelming, especially for the already grieving family members. This is particularly true when it comes to transferring ownership of a car. However, it is crucial to follow the legal process to ensure that the transfer is valid and binding. Here is the complete breakdown of how to transfer car title of a deceased person according to Pakistani law.

Transfer of Car Title

To start the process of transferring a car title of a deceased person, the first step is to obtain a succession certificate or Family Registration Certificate (FRC). This document verifies that the person requesting the transfer is the legal heir of the deceased.

Once the succession certificate is obtained, the family member needs to fill out either Form F or Form 31 and submit it to the Excise and Taxation Department. The completed form, along with the succession certificate, is used to transfer the ownership of the car to the legal heirs. While the process may seem daunting, following the correct procedures will ensure a smooth and legal transfer of the vehicle’s ownership.
