Petrol prices to remain unchanged for October 2018

On the order of Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, the prices of the petroleum products in the country will remain unchanged for October 2018.

While speaking to the media, Finance Minister, Asad Umar, said that the government had made this decision to give relief to the people of Pakistan. Earlier, Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority recommended increasing the prices of petroleum products by up to PKR 4.41. 

Not only, the authority recommended the change, but the Finance Minister in his mini-budget speech 2018-19 hinted that due to the devaluation of rupee against the Dollar, the prices of petrol and other oil products might go up by PKR 20, but now it has been confirmed that the prices will remain intact in October.

The current oil prices are as follow:

Current Prices
Petrol PKR 92.83
High-speed diesel PKR 106.57
Kerosene oil PKR 83.50
Light-speed diesel PKR 75.96

As of now, the General Sales Tax on diesel is 17.5% and 4.50% on petrol. Moreover, it is important to mention here that the import of oil products has dropped by 38% in August 2018 to 912,370 tons against 1.46 million tons. Furthermore, oil sales in the country also have decreased to 1.5 million tons in August 2018 year-on-year.
