What Is Sothassi? Pakistan’s New Motorcycle Brand Explained
Pakistan’s motorcycle market has a new local player. Sothassi, a Pakistani-owned motorcycle brand, has officially entered the 2-wheeler market today aiming to compete in the upper budget segment.
What Does Sothassi Mean?
The name Sothassi originates from Chitral, where the local term refers to some kind of flying spiders.
The inspiration is also reflected in the company’s logo, which incorporates a spider as part of its design identity:

Unlike most motorcycle brands in Pakistan, which focus on commuter bikes, Sothassi is entering the market with a focus on high-capacity, retro-styled motorcycles.
So far, the company has launched only one motorcycle, whose price and booking details we will discuss later.
According to the company, its head office, showroom, and all business operations are located only in Islamabad.
What Does the Brand Offer?
Sothassi is focused on the premium motorcycle segment, with all its announced models featuring engines of 400cc or more.
Its current lineup includes:
| Model | Engine |
| Classic 400 | 400cc |
| Crossfire 500 | 500cc |
| Cromwell 1200 | 1200cc |
All of their motorcycles are retro roadster body styles like classic Triumph and Royal Enfield bikes, which is very different from the mainstream market, which mainly targets commuter-style bikes.
For reference, these are commuter body motorcycles:

First Motorcycle Launched of Sothassi
The first motorcycle officially introduced in Pakistan is the Sothassi Classic 400.

It is a retro roadster body bike powered by a 400cc engine and carries an introductory ex-factory price of Rs. 845,000.
Mechanically, it uses a carburetor-based, single-cylinder 397 cc engine that produces 26 hp and 30 Nm of torque.
Biggest Size Locally Assembled Motorcycle
Perhaps the biggest milestone is that Sothassi is assembling these motorcycles locally.
While Pakistan has previously offered high-capacity motorcycles from Chinese brands, they have been sold as imported completely built-up (CBU) units.
Sothassi becomes the country’s first motorcycle brand to locally assemble motorcycles in the 400cc-and-above category.
Final Thoughts
Sothassi is entering a niche-specific market. Instead of competing with commuter motorcycles, it is focusing on premium retro roadsters with larger engines and local assembly.
Whether the brand succeeds will depend on pricing, product quality, after-sales support, and its ability to build buyer confidence.
For now, there’s only one bike launched by the brand which is so expensive that only those with a niche-specific budget can afford.
