What to Do if Your Car’s Brakes Fail?

0 1,622

Car brake failure is a serious issue and can lead to serious injury or even casualties. In this short article, we will share some tips to follow in case brakes fail. First, don’t panic because it will intensify the issue, and you will not be able to think straight, so stay calm and handle your car.

Service of Brakes

The first thing every car owner should know is that brakes never fail suddenly like in old movies; instead, it happens because of low maintenance and no brake pads service over the years. This will cause noise due to friction of the iron parts of the brakes. To reduce this noise, the mechanics usually suggests a “tool” on brake pads to reduce the noise, but you should check the brakes regularly to avoid such a situation.

Another widespread thing in Pakistan is that people throw water on brakes in hilly areas, and this method destroys your brakes. The water on hot brakes will contract the iron, and the brakes will stop working, so don’t throw water on your brakes during the drive, especially in the mountains.

Finally, check your brake oil regularly because it could leak in some cases, especially in old cars, which means the brake will not work. So, always keep an eye on the oil and its level.

What to Do?

Follow these instructions if your brakes stop working:

  • If you are driving a manual car, simply gear it down, which will reduce speed, and the vehicle will eventually stop.
  • If your car is automatic, just don’t panic and leave the race pedal, and the vehicle will come to a halt slowly. This tip is helpful for a highway as you can take your car to the left lane (the slowest one) and leave the race pedal.
  • And last but not least, if your transmission is Tiptronic, change it to manual and follow the first instruction, meaning gear it down to reduce the speed.

In conclusion “Aap Nay Bus Ghabrana Nahi Hay.”
