Women-driven Bike Service To Be Launched in Pakistan
In a move to promote women empowerment and inclusivity in the ride-hailing industry, a leading ride-hailing service has announced plans to launch a new women-driven bike service in Pakistan on International Women’s Day. The service, exclusively catering to female customers, is set to begin in Karachi and later expand to other cities across the country.
The ride-hailing service offers two models of part-time and full-time options for women bike riders, guaranteeing a monthly payment of Rs30,000 and Rs50,000, respectively, reported The News. Additionally, women motorbike captains will receive 0 percent commission, bonuses, and guarantees, as well as priority access to the service’s safety and security helpline.
Currently, the ride-hailing service has more than 1,700 women captains driving customers across multiple car types on the platform. To incentivize women bike riders across all types, the ride-hailing service is offering special bonuses, making it more lucrative for them to work on the platform. This initiative of launching a women-driven bike service will also make the commute easier for women.
According to Imran Saleem, General Manager of ride-hailing at the company, “Women are an integral part of our society and constitute a large number of our overall customer base. The women-driven motorbike service will help our female customers break barriers through access to safe, reliable, and affordable transport.”
This new initiative by the ride-hailing service will not only create employment opportunities for women but also provide a safer transportation option for female customers in a male-dominated industry. With the introduction of women bike riders, the ride-hailing industry in Pakistan is taking a step towards gender inclusivity and diversity.
