Would Buy This Mercedes E250 Over A Sonata – Owner Review
Today we’re back with the owner’s review of a w212 Mercedes E250. This generation of the E class debuted in 2009 and remained in production till 2016. In this period, Mercedes made many changes to this car. Initially, it came with a 5-speed transmission, after which it was upgraded to a 7-speed gear with a column shifter behind the steering.
In 2013, the car was given a facelift with some exterior changes and an updated instrument cluster as well. This car is the facelifted Avantgarde variant; it comes with a 1.8-liter petrol engine producing around 204 hp and 310 nm of torque.
Purchase Decision
The owner, Farhan Naweed, is a seasoned car enthusiast, and his love for Mercedes is something he can’t ignore. He also previously had the w211 E class and really enjoyed how the E drove. He did not consider newer sedans like Sonata at all as, in his opinion, the drive and quality are miles apart. He bought the car last year for around PKR 7.2 million.
Fuel Average
As per the owner, the fuel average is decent; it gives around 8 to 9 km/l within the city, including idling time. In his opinion, if driven normally without excessive idling, it easily goes up to 10 km/l within the city. On highways, if driven at consistent speeds, the average goes up to 13 km/l.
Features
Despite being almost a decade old, this w212 E250 has a host of features. These include a panoramic roof, LED adaptive headlights, a rear sunshade, electric seats with storage, warm ambient lighting, cruise control, active parking assist, neck pro headrests, ventilated seats, a digital instrument cluster, and much more. Safety features include traction and stability controls, lane keep assist, blind spot monitor, parking sensors, etc.
Maintenance
According to the owner, it is a myth that maintaining a Mercedes is very heavy on the pocket. He maintains the car after every 5000 kilometers and it costs him around 12 to 13,000 rupees, similar to local sedans. Spare parts are also readily available from local markets, Shahnawaz, and can be easily imported from Dubai. As per the owner, the engine and components are getting smarter, and parts are no longer costly.
