Yamaha Unveils Self-Riding Electric Bike

The iconic motorcycle manufacturer Yamaha has pulled back the curtains on a groundbreaking innovation. The Yamaha Motoroid 2 is a self-riding electric bike that defies conventional controls with its handlebar-free design.

This isn’t Yamaha’s first take on the concept of self-riding bikes. The Motoroid 2 follows in the tire tracks of its predecessor, the Motoroid, first teased in 2017. However, what sets the Motoroid 2 apart is not just its conceptual prowess; it’s a living, breathing prototype ready to hit the road.

The Motoroid 2 is not your ordinary bike. It boasts gyroscopes that keep it impeccably balanced, ensuring a smooth ride. What’s more, it features image recognition AI systems, transforming the bike into an intelligent companion that can navigate roads with ease. It’s not just about staying upright; it can even take a solo ride without any rider.

The Yamaha Vision

Yamaha envisions the Motoroid 2 as more than just an electric bike. It’s a personal mobility solution that recognizes its owner. On top of that, it rises gracefully off its kickstand and moves alongside its rider. Yamaha describes it as having a “lifelike feel” when someone is riding on its back, creating a presence akin to a trusted companion.

Japan Mobility Show 2023

Yamaha is set to showcase the prototype of the Motoroid 2 at the Japan Mobility Show 2023 in Tokyo next month. The anticipation is palpable as the motorcycle enthusiasts eagerly await a glimpse into the future of riding.

While Yamaha’s plans for a production model remain unclear, the ongoing development of the Motoroid 2 hints at Yamaha’s commitment to integrating its futuristic features into upcoming motorcycles.
