Latest Update on ZalaZONE

ZalaZONE, a 250-hectare proving ground in Zalaegerszeg operated by AVL, expects a sharp increase in utilization in 2026. 

László Palkovics, chairman of the ZalaZONE Foundation, announced this at a recent press conference, highlighting growing needs for ADAS, EVs, and even robotics testing. 

The site now attracts around 80 manufacturers, including Chinese and Turkish firms, fostering new investments and partnerships.

The 2025-opened high-speed oval track, enabling 300 km/h tests, is the only one in Europe. 

They recently inaugurated a 10,000-square-meter facility here for EV components, creating 210 jobs and boosting software-defined vehicle production. 

Economic and Global Impact

According to the reports, this growth strengthens Hungary’s auto sector, with ties to giants like BMW, Mercedes, and BYD. 

It extends beyond vehicles to humanoid robots and agri-tech, aligning with EU innovation goals.

Pakistan can learn from ZalaZONE to create specialized testing hubs, attract foreign investment, and accelerate EV adoption.  

With local and international players eyeing electrification in Pakistan, emulating Hungary’s public-private model could increase the frequency of Research & Development jobs and export growth.
