hello. i am kind of new to this site. i purchased a 89 accord with 167,000 for 400 bucks yesterday and it has power locks and everything but the drivers side doesnt lock. the top of the lock button moves when i hit the lock button but it doesnt lock the door. i can seem to figure it out. any suggestions. also i was wondering why my engine shakes vilently in the engine bay when i first start my car up. could it be an engine mount or just need a tunup really bad. another thing i was wondering is how i can switch it to fuel injection. could i just take the carb off and replace it with the fuel injection from another car like mine or is there a bunch of modding that i would have to do to get it to work. any suggestions or tips would be very helpfull. thanks
aoa, boss I love this car n shape,Ihad one few years back and then left it as a bad job. This car sucks ,not to disheart u but may be it is quiet old and few things cant be repaired once they r old.btw i think u bought it in more price then its market. In short their days are over
well aviartor guess you havent done much research on the 3 g accords. they are acttually more reliable than any of the newer models and many of them go to around 400,000 miles but hey your opinion is your opinion not a very good one but you do have the right to say whatever you want
bro no need to get worried.if ur talking about the central locking that ur driver's door is not operating through ur remote control, following might cud be the problems.yup i like ur car buddy its one THE OLD SCHOOL CLASSICs.thumbs up 4ur ride
1.motor that controls the door might not be working properly,th new one is for approximately 6-700 (when i got it fixed in my car it was 250 by that time 4yrs back)
2.the wire that connects the motor might be damaged.
3.or as the car is old the mechanisim might be jammed that would be needing greasing
ur problem is not more then like 2-3hrsMax
I'm sure the driver side door locks but only when the door is already closed (not when the door is open) and/or when you're holding the handle open (as if you were opening the door) and then press the lock down...it will work.
The shaking is the signature sign of old Hondas, that is due to the carb needing tuning. The car is not worth converting to EFI as it requires ALOT of things, not a simple affair and costs quite a bit.
Btw, I had a Grey elephant with the popup headlights back in the day.
