Default RPM fluctuation on idling - Honda Accord 1986

    Pakwheelers
Need your help in to sort this out. I recently bought a Honda Accord 1986 and its rpm fluctuates like hell on idle. Took it to the mechanic for tunning and carbareuter cleaning but it was of no use. My EXPERT mechanic is not able to figure it out that what is causing the RPM to fluctuate on idle.
It is doing the same on petrol and cng. Need your expert advice and suggestions in sorting this out.

    Thanking you in anticipation.

jz and shadow - please note that this model of accord in Pakistan uses a carburettor and that too without any sort of electrical stuff on it - not even an auto-choke system, this car still had the pull out choke lever.

anyways - misfiring at idle on your model year accord is usually a bad distributor, remove from car and check the ignitor/pulser wiring on it, if cracked - resolder new items, check the distributor centrifugal advance for operation as well as the vacuum advance

I had this prblm in my ride, it was coz of 'play' in distributor, so the mechanic replaced the 'bush' its fine now with improvd pick, another symptoms beside irregular RPMs is heavy duty knocking on petrol

open distributor cap pull and push the rod in it if it moves up down or otherwise then you need to replace the 'bush'

^^ the full wiring of this model year accord with A16A1 carby engine is about 8 wires including the 4 alternator connections. you can repair/fix the the wiring with half an attentive brain and very basic common sense.

The carburettor is also very simple, the reason it fails is because our mechanics love to open it up completely in the name of service, I say dunk it in petrol - then scrub it, remove top hat and accelerator pump plunger, shoot away with carby cleaner - reface the pump plunger mount (it warps if overtightened) - renew O rings (Rs 400/- for the entire packing kit), file the pump rod for 0.1 or 0.2 mm clearance from the operating arm. Install and enjoy.

Refuring the distributor is very easy too. But the results are amazing after that.
