Exclamation Buying Honda Accord 2003/4 - a good idea?

    Hello guys,

Im thinking to buy 2nd hand accord 03 or 04 model (black). But what i want to know is if it has good resale value and what about spare parts and service?

I have to decide between new civic reborn or accord 04 - which one should i buy?

Accord has more features and a 2.0L or 2.4L engine but it would be older

obviously u'll find the spare parts of reborn easily...plus a new car gives u the peace of mind, drive it properly, and u wouldn't need spare parts for years

Friend, as far as the spare parts goes you will get them from Bilal Gunj (Scrap market Lahore), Chah Sultan (Rawalpindi scrap market) etc. The spare parts are available in abundance and basically you can almost find anything and in very good condition. However the spare parts are expensive. e.g Accord Front or Back Kabli bumper 30 to 40 thousand rupees, Kabli Ac Compressor 26 to 32 thousand rupees, body kit 50 to 60 thousand rupees. I am sure you get the picture.

As far as the resale value goes definitely it cannot match the resale value of a local manufacture car like Honda Civic / City and Toyota corolla since its price tag is higher if not the same as that of a e.g new civic. If you are buying it from an investment point of view then my personnel suggestion is not to buy it.

come on man you are thinking about accord !!!! bring the idea into reality
drain out the resale factor from your brain
found a good piece which don't need parts to replace
normal service is not a problem

please don't mislead people on the resale part of the accord. We have kept two cl9s, one of which was bought like 5 months back and just few days ago we sold it for a couple of ks lesser of the amount for which we bought it. If you buy a clean car in the first place then it doesn't get difficult to sell for the same amount for which you bought. However, on the spare parts being expensive, i agree with you and it's not just about accord, all imported cars requires big pockets in order to keep them maintained properly but then again if one buys a nice and well maintained car then chances of things going wrong becomes quite less.

new civic and accord are same when it comes to maintenance and also cl9s give good mileage as well if you drive it normally.

    which year were your cl9's?
how much mileage did you put on it while they stayed with you?
duration of stay of those cl9's was 5 months which is not considerable.
and you did not mentioned about the maintenance part clearly.
my resale point is backed up by another member also.

both were 2003 year models and both were almost full option cars. The one which we had earlier was with us for quite time but as the car was in immaculate condition with many options so it didn't put a dent in my father's pocket. The latest one which we had was another clean car and as i said earlier, if you buy a clean car in the first place then it doesn't bother you much with the maintenance. I also know of a few people who bought accords and after driving it for like 10000kms more they sold their cars for a couple of ks more than what it costed them so all i am saying here is that you cannot generalize the resale value issue. However, spares for imported cars like accord and mark x are quite costly and at times it becomes a pain in the behind to find genuine parts.

    regards.

Thanks for to the point replies. Will help me decide. I am not buying the car from investment point of view, i am buying the car to drive it as if i stole it.
