    Default Accord 88 Engine Swap

    AOA
Guyz i recently gave my accord for complete engine overhaul but unfortunatley the block has a crack n crank canot be replaced as the engine was built already couple of times...
Have searched alot to get the OEM engine in shershah but clndt find it so now i have no other option than swap

    NOW THE SWAP
Now the real thing is m planning a swap on it
engine i m considering keeping my budget in mind is D15B Dual VTEC
The car chasis is solid as the engine is out of the car now n evrything is clear to me....

    Things m confused with are
1 will the swap be sucessful as this accord has its engine rite in the center of the engine bay
2 Will the chasis be altered for mounts n is it worth it?
3 Will wiring make an issue as the car is Carb n the engine i willl be getting will b efi with an ecu

UR suggestions will be very helpful guyz
    Speacially
People who have done swaps n knw where to get the rite engine in what price

P.S: I bought this accord for getting luxury n no doubt m really happy with the drive of her its way awesom n m not going to sell it.

    For lubes

any API SJ engine oil for engine
    caltex delo gold for gearbox

    genuine honda PSF for steering.

After install take a level and measure the height of the power steering pump and the plastic bottle of PSF, the bottle full mark should be at least 1 or 2 inches higher than the pump top. If its not then you need to get creative and make it higher otherwise the pump will ingest air.

The factory EFI versions of this car had the wiring entering the engine bay from the left fender and not through the firewall like civics have (this engine is of civic), You will have to cut the firewall to punch a hole through it (which creates water leaks into the cabin)

If you are creative enough you can use the factory wiring from the fusebox side for the gauges, rpm etc.

If you notice the placement of the engine is correct but the timing mount bracket is a bit aft and is very close to the wheel well bulge, Ask your fabricator to make an offset bracket that goes a bit forward..

The original A engine had load bearing mounts on the timing and both bottom mounts, This engine has the lower as torque mounts while the sides are load bearing mounts.

The factory torque strut on the top of the A engine was a pretty cool feature as it limits engine movement, Are you going to use it?

Make sure the upper radiator pipe connection on the engine is lower than the radiator pipe connection. If its not then you will have serious overheat issues due to air trapment. If you cannot raise the radiator then you will have to convert the cooling system to a fully sealed system like a mercedes benz has or the daewoo racer had.

yep. it would have tons of ZDDP which the flat rockers of this engine require, no cat converter installed either.

Read the details ... i did a swap on the same car Accord 88 . With a d15b . And my car is running perfectly .. and believe .it has been 3 years . I have face not a single issue regarding this engine . Just the oil change and tunings .
