    Default Accord 88 Engine Swap

    AOA
Guyz i recently gave my accord for complete engine overhaul but unfortunatley the block has a crack n crank canot be replaced as the engine was built already couple of times...
Have searched alot to get the OEM engine in shershah but clndt find it so now i have no other option than swap

    NOW THE SWAP
Now the real thing is m planning a swap on it
engine i m considering keeping my budget in mind is D15B Dual VTEC
The car chasis is solid as the engine is out of the car now n evrything is clear to me....

    Things m confused with are
1 will the swap be sucessful as this accord has its engine rite in the center of the engine bay
2 Will the chasis be altered for mounts n is it worth it?
3 Will wiring make an issue as the car is Carb n the engine i willl be getting will b efi with an ecu

UR suggestions will be very helpful guyz
    Speacially
People who have done swaps n knw where to get the rite engine in what price

P.S: I bought this accord for getting luxury n no doubt m really happy with the drive of her its way awesom n m not going to sell it.

If you find a genuine accord B20A with original ECU and manual gearbox - you will know what usable power is. I could do a burnout all the way in the first 2 gears. Fun times.

This was the same car my relatives had - they bought it and complained that they were duped because their mechanic told them - yeh konsa maadel le liya, iss ka to kuch nahin milta hai.

At this moment you are stuck - do what you can. you will ultimately require cutting and welding your car.

Some say its total nonsense keeping these cars. Atleast someone said to me. Told they are odies. Honestly yes parts are not that easy as mehran but same is the case for recent JDM Alien looking cars too.

This car has very good driving. I max got 10.2 km/l heavy pedal in city with AC. its 1.8.

In your opinion should one keep the car or.........

If you are comfortable with it then why not.

I had a VW Golf in Pakistan, its parts are non existant in spare parts shops but I had a lot of them collected from various places in Pakistan and outside Pakistan too.

If the cylinder head is OK then just go asking for a block. You might find one, if you find an A20 then buy that and use your original 1.6 carb. It will take it.

bro these is no such rocket science to fix D17 engine in accord 88 engine bay, i didnt see much welding or cutting while they fit the engine, its japanese D17 engine, in pakistan civic 2005 model comes with D16 engine series.
just make sure you get engine in good condition with complete wiring, ecu and gearbox (go with auto transmission) cause original ecu comes with engine is for auto, if you go for manual transmission you might have to find different ecu.

also on more advantage of this engine is that you can find EVERY part of this engine in every shop. So there is no issue in parts, and also most of honda mechanics are familiar with this engine as it comes in civic and for them its a routine engine.

and also i am running cng aswell and its working smooth and giving me 80km in city and 140km on highway (experienced last week on motorway)
fuel average is somewhere around 10 km/liter (i will get better mileage once car is tuned and oxygen sensor is connected.)

see - I told you, you just spent 4 hours and found so much because this is a regular car in Pakistan. I could find really odd stuff in Shersha Karachi - like my Golf turbodiesel engine and GTI gearbox.

now make sure you follow the book when overhauling, download the service manual and look up every clearance in it and torque figure for the bolts and nuts. Do not let your mechanic decide the torque figures with his wrists. Also do not let the machinist decide the clearance condition. Follow the book.

If you are going to machine it - do not drop off the items at the place called malik engineering - they are the worst of machining places - they would blatantly lie to customers faces - even if you get your own micrometer to measure what they goofups did - they would say that "ham ko kaam sikhao ge"

I usually had a place called Salman engineering do work for me - mostly when I was there I would run the machines myself. If you show up with a service manual he would really appreciate it and make double sure that you get to see the clearances he set.

While in plaza go to the shop that sells VIC filters - ask them for Accord ka oil filter then ask them for a civic one - the accord one should be taller and have PH1 or PH4 in its part number. That is the only filter you should use in this engine. No other shop would even know what the filter is except the Honda spare parts shops.
