    Default Accord 88 Engine Swap

    AOA
Guyz i recently gave my accord for complete engine overhaul but unfortunatley the block has a crack n crank canot be replaced as the engine was built already couple of times...
Have searched alot to get the OEM engine in shershah but clndt find it so now i have no other option than swap

    NOW THE SWAP
Now the real thing is m planning a swap on it
engine i m considering keeping my budget in mind is D15B Dual VTEC
The car chasis is solid as the engine is out of the car now n evrything is clear to me....

    Things m confused with are
1 will the swap be sucessful as this accord has its engine rite in the center of the engine bay
2 Will the chasis be altered for mounts n is it worth it?
3 Will wiring make an issue as the car is Carb n the engine i willl be getting will b efi with an ecu

UR suggestions will be very helpful guyz
    Speacially
People who have done swaps n knw where to get the rite engine in what price

P.S: I bought this accord for getting luxury n no doubt m really happy with the drive of her its way awesom n m not going to sell it.

or anything els is required before installing or aseembling the engine?
You need to measure the clearances - your average shop mechanic does not have measuring tools - in Pakistan the "lathe wala" has them - hence they rely on them wholly for such - and if the lathe runner is a bit dodgy he will mill down even if not required.

I would like to add that.the carb should not be messed with unnecessarily , if it gives problems then recheck the vacuum lines, opening it is absolutely last resort. I learnt this recently

download the whole thing from this site - you would need a lot of time to sift through it - there is tons of information in the repair manual - I had the original Honda paper manual, Must be buried somewhere with my tools.

water pump, timing belt and roller tensioner, new seals throughout, new gaskets throughout - overhaul and reseal the distributor, new engine mounts, new clutch set, new oil pump.

remove all parts, measure the clearances, e.g. change piston rings if they are gunked, deglaze the cylinders if new rings are being installed. similarly check the crank bearings and replace as necessary.

measure the pistons and their bores for correct sizing, if they are good then just install new rings after deglazing the bores (you dont want shiny bores)

the fuel pump in this car is inside the fuel tank - why do you think you need to replace it?

btw - the correct term is "FLY" wheel not "FRY" wheel. install a New clutch and pressure plate along with new bearing.

should be - open it up.

There is a version of the A18A that came with dual carburettors. It wont have that as that was a japan specific model only.

Parfmance wire, plugs and filters are useless, stick to repair manual specs, those will give you the best outcomes

all the above mentioned are a waste of money - I would opt for the platinum plugs only as they are good for 100,000 kms, you get absolute no performance gain with any of the wires, plugs, exhaust etc. They are just marketing gimmicks to make you feel good.

This car originally has cold air intake setup - the air intake pipe actually opens into the front right mudguard cavity where it gets all the coldest air it needs.

The original fuel pump is like you find in a suzuki margalla and cultus with carburettor engine, its a low pressure pump but has no return line - the pressure regulator is built into the pump. It pushes fuel at a max of 5 psi. The fuel pump relay is in the dashboard fuse box and is white in colour.

It energizes for 2 seconds when the switch is first keyed on and then is kept energized, once when starting and then with the ignition coil pulses as the engine runs, meaning as long as the rpm meter is above 0 it will keep the pump running. I would suggest you find the original fuel pump for this car, its far more important than these plugs etc you are after.
