37 of the 42 pia planes are banned in Europe. For UK they are using the 777 new planes. However, these can only carry 350 passengers. A few weeks ago PIA had overbooked by 75 people. This was due to the fact that the 747 is one of the planes banned due to safety. The 747 can carry 430 passengers. Pia are struggling at the moment in uk an they need their 747's fixed asap as the summer season is nearing.
I must admit though that the EU treated PIA harshly. Banning 37 planes is too much. I agree the 747's are old but the Airbus A310'S should never have been banned coz some of these are new.
I was lucky enough to travel on a PIA 747 in 2005 and i though the plane was well maintained interior wise.
It will be a struggle for PIA in the summer months from uk if they do not have their 747's back asap.
One other thing. Pia have some of the best pilots in the world. (and i am not making this up).
