guys i have alto 2007vxr .......is it possible that i can put jdm alto abs to local alto ....ideas and suggestions are required as well as welcomed . thank you
i would be more interested in fitting the jdm engine head to the local block
any thing is possible in pakistan..
you will need the abs unit with piping and wiring and control unit.it will help if you get your hands on workshop manual and wiring diagram of jdm and local alto
sadly this is NOT possible, due to engine configurations.
this part however IS do-able but utterly pointless since a JDM alto is cheaper to buy than a new local one. he's better off buying a JDM and swapping engines.
Better put new wider tyres and new brakes
thanks guys for the infomation
the diaphram of the brake booster of alto is quite big as compared to other cars.. and i personaly know that brakes of jdm are very good.. even without abs.
so whats wrong with the local alto?
it can be possible for ABS bcoz they have same chassis and suspension
ABS IMHO is an ECU controlled feature. Chassis and Suspensions are the last things I'll be worried about.
@NFSsaad - The JDM one in similar shape has awsome brakes? Or the newer shape one which is flat from the rear?
its not a piece of cake to put ABS system in Local Alto
@nfssaad well bro my breaks are working fine but i wanted to put this safety feature to my car , as i have city also so in comparision with it i can say that alto breaks are not bad at all .
just get a drum to disc conversion kit.It fits in place of rear drums without alteration and u will hav excellent brakes
ABS- Well I know from my experiences with ABS for AUDI that this although a goood to have is a problematic tool because I often see customers with ABS problems. The ABS control module has a large number of pins which increas and decrease the braking power on wheels it has got a small PCB which is linked to the ECU the ABS sensors in wheels are linked to the ABS control module, lot of people fry the control module because when moisture gets in the PCB it shorts out resulting in the ABS stops functioning. Well I like your approach because you want to do something that no one has ever done or attempted or think that it is a waste of time \ money but to me it is a sign of a SHARP / Intelligent mind, all the best on your adventure let me know how it goes.
The best bet for you would be to take off the entire setup from a car and put in your car
Are you sure?
I've found the rear drums to provide better braking than rear discs in an identical car.
For instance, my friend's EXi 1999 stops quicker than my VTi 2000, and his former VTi 1999 as well.
why dont you just try it?
everyone will get answer if it is possible or not
@ all, thanks guys for suggestions n advices, today my local mechanic says that even some how he wud be able to put abs in the car , there wud be many complications and he has to do a lot of alterations so he he said it is better to use stock breaking system n drive slow lolz. Btw my guy in bilal gung said that it can be done . Also i have two years of insurance which will be lost if i do so......i dont know what to do
@ Storm,,,,,is it possible to put a local 1000 Alto engine into JDM 660cc AUTOMATIC Alto without major alterations
^that is a interesting question & quest.
i was talking about 2002 jdm alto.. my cousin has one. its not got the jumping bouncing problem that i have heard local altos have.. drive is very smooth and quite.. and the milage of that alto is more than 90,000km. and great brakes too..
the only maintenance my cousin has done till now is to change oil and filters.apart from that just put petrol and drive.
Absolutely! The engine bay size is identical.
That I have to seee to believe! I say it's the tyres or the condition of brakes on the 2000 Civic. Discs SHOULD outperform drums!
@proverbial slang,,,,,the engine bay sizes are identical but what about the transmission ,,,,,can we use JDM alto's AUTO transmission with local 1000 cc alto's engine ?
