Default gear problem in brand new ALTO

i just got my Alto VXR CNG from showroom, when i was driving car to home i found the gears were so so and so very hard that i couldnt switch b/w gears? speically it was in 1st 2nd and reverse gear?

can you guys confirm me if it's a factory fault or the problem will be resolved within 2 or 3 days of driving?

Besides on petrol and cng both i push hard the car was not going more than 60 on CNG and on petorl not more than 70 to 80?

^^^Selling cultus and going for Alto -- no wise choice my-friend, I am not saying this cause I own cultus.

but between these two cars the difference is big -- according to my observations.

For you Both --- Me not happy to hear these surprises on the brand new cars. plus the price tag you guys paid for this

    ^ Exactly,
Not a wise move at all, if you were having problems with one suzuki, you bought another even cheeper suzuki, cant say anything now
You should have only sold cultus when you were buying a swift atleast, or vitz would also have been a great choice

I also own one alto 2005, bought brand new and no such problem till now MashaAllah
clocked 80k on odo, maintained by master motors dha
IMO the quality has gone down , the only prob I have in Alto is that its body is very soft even it get dented by pressing the hood with a thumb, other thn that on tech side no prob but poor braking
My dear ALLAH when I loose hope, help me to remember that Your love is greater than my disappointment and Your plans for my life are better than my Dreams.

I would agree about the quality going down over the years thing. We've got a couple of Alto's in the family. The most recent being a 2010 model. I've driven all of them and the earlier ones from 2004-05 are way smoother than the current one. The suspension in the new car is also very squishy and bouncy while the older one drives planted. Then there are other differences like interior quality, ac cooling, sound deadening, etc. The newer one feels more like a disposable tin car.

    Default @poster..

Have experience of 4 different Altos.. Have kept one from 2008 to Jan 2011.. All of them had hard gears since the beginning, especially 1st and 2nd.. even after 50k mileage the problem remained.. Its the inborn defect..... Those who say it would go away, I don't think so.. however with the passage of time u'll get used to it.. its top speed however will improve with mileage but plz don't expect it to run like a sports car.. Everyone has his/her own opinion but in my opinion if u are willing to ignore transmission problem its a good reliable car.. The one that we kept had 65k on the odo in 2 and a half years, and only thing we did was to change the oil/filter on time..

I dont know why peoples then call it a good car; if there is any defect which is by birth how can we call it a good one. One may can live with the defects but how we can call it a good one.. And transmission is also from one of the basic things. If it's not perfect then how can you expect a car will be good condition always..

anyway it's my opnion everyone have there own living style as well as priorities.

If i have no choice left and there is no solution then i have to think about way to get out of it

Manufacturing fault. Had 2008 Alto for 2.5 year and gear shifting issue was there throughout that period though I kept my car very well maintained.

I made a research .. and everyone was seems very satisfied.. none of them have mentioned that if it has a MANUFACTURED faulty gear problem. At least now from my thread someone will be cautious that if they should go for it or not.

They sell you crap for 100s os 1000s of Rs. That is why I have boycotted the whole Suzuki scene. I prefer older model Hondas or Toyotas. Suzuki has absolutely no quality control.

    @sohail
We bought an Alto in 2007 which after running for 40K kms, still have the same problem. When it was under warranty and my bro, who runs the car, took it to them, they gave the same lollipop. Dont give in to these ras***'s claims. Go and fight till they adjust it. I get sooo pissed off. Is that a effing joke? u spend 7 lac rs on a car and if something is wrong, these idiots say " kuch ursay mai theek ho jayege".

The problem is warranty (which seems useless) that any mechanic touch anything without prior approval from Suzuki the warranty is void.

Yes got some more info on it. dealership has no authority to fix anything like this.

I talked to Suzuki area manager and he was really nice and honest. He told me that it is a manufacturing fault and this can be fixed.

He said that even he is not authorized to get this fixed so he will talk to his higher ups in suzuki in karachi and he promised me that he will get the authorization to fix it.

so i am expecting to put my car in one of their shop in couple of days.

I am pretty hopeful to find the fix. No need to sale the car because of this minor thing.

Ya i also get to know this.. I was told if there is any problem then Suzuki will send there own mechanic to fix, if big issue then they will take car to Factory.

But i am facing one more issue; so wanted to confirm if it;s same at ur side... After continues runing of 5 to 6KM i fell the car is loosing power even a mehran can easily beat.. pick is very low (without AC even) and almost same on gas and petrol? the car has to be push really hard.. I suspect it could be issue of Clutch plate... i am not sure..

I had the same problem with mine, especially from moving 2 to 1. Drove it for a couple of thousands KMs and is working perfectly fine.

Still there seems to be something wrong with your car, I can easily get to 130 on petrol... Don't have CNG installed so no idea for that.
