Question Oils for Brand new Alto

    Dear PW experts,

Please suggest which oils should be used for Brand new Suzuki Alto VXR (Petrol) in the following categories?

    1. Engine Oil
    2. Gear Oil
    3. Brake oil

Please also suggest that after the delivery of the Car from showroom, should i immediately change these oils to my preference? If not, when should i change the stock oil (company poured)?

    1. Petromin engine oil is vot you should use.

Personally speaking the sooner you convert to it, the better and then remember to stick to one brand. rest, you'll be getting answers shortly. I use Caltex for the others. And by the way, congrats on the new purchase.

Any motor oil will work, this car has a classic engine which is about 3 decade old, no need of any newer grade oil, but if you still insist then you may go for the most expensive oil available out there, but in my opinion Zic A will suffice, just the Zic A not the A+ as for Pakistani weather Zic A is more suitable or Zic Hiflo, i have no idea about Petromin as i haven't used it myself but you should keep an eye on that too as people here are quite satisfied with it.

And there is no need to change the transmission or brake oil in a brand new car.

Liqui Moly MoS2 10W40 will be the most suitable as according to your car. It is a partly synthetic formula with Liqui Moly famous MoS2 particles already blended.

Change your Engine oil after running 1000 kms or as suggested by the dealer. No need to change Gear and Brake oils, for them check your owner manual.

Yes MoS2 Leichtlauf is the product of Liqui Moly and it is available in 10W40 and 15W50 gradings.

10W40 is the SAE gradings that tells that how the oil will perform at the low and high temperatures. You can google this for a complete and detailed study.

I suggest you do NOT run any engine oil for more than 5000 kilometers in Pakistan due to the heat and the dust suspended in the environment and looking at the inferior quality of the filters we receive here.

For 5000 kilometers any of the mainstream oil is going to be perfect as long as it is original (big question mark). However, PETROMIN ultra provides the best value for money amongst all the oils available in Pakistan. Tried it in Alto 2007, Santro 2004, City 2004, Civic 2000, Altis 2010 and currently using in an E46 Bimmer..absolutely satisfied.

Differences noticed : Smoother idling, better economy, sweeter engine sound.

as mentioned by c123pk, the engine design is old and you probably gan get away with using an API SG grade oil, but if you can get an SL grade for the same price (or less) i'd suggest you go for that option (Fuchs Titan Super GT or Petromin Ultra7).

there is no point running a (real) synthetic in your engine unless you really insist on it. in that case your only 2 choices are Mobil Super syn and ZIc XQ, but i warn you that they are VERY expensive.

avoid all these new wannabe synthetics from caltex etc as they have to work too hard in pakistans summers (specially KHI)

ZIc should not be used as they have played with our trust Petromin is a good oil no doubt its a saudi company but germans do researchs by their own and do the automotive best if this liqui moly synthetic is costly to you then go for non synthetic version and feel the pleasure of smooth drive and it can resist high temperatures and work good on cold engine but the main thing is that you will notic this oil is very different then other oils... but the thing is till how much time it does not loose is lubrication properties...

    Default The feedback

Yesterday i changed the engine oil and added Mos 2 Antifriction in gear oil area.

The VERY first thing i noticed was that the sound of engine became better.
When drove the car, i felt a same fresh feeling when the oil is changed, which is normal. but after driving around 10 kms or so (on variable RPM), uffffffffffffffffff i was amazed, the torque increased and the car felt soooo light. amazing. i must say that i am not only satisfied, but very satisfied.

As far as gear oil additive is concerned, the gears were hard to change, specially 1st, 2nd and reverse. suzuki alto has this built-in issue that gears are hard. but after adding additive, the problem resolved 80% and gears became soft.

Trust me after experiencing these 2 products personally myself, i wanted to try every product of liquimoly if i wud have money....

    Overall, very satisfied.
