Default *Very Urgent Help* ~Suzuki Alto Starting Problem~

    Asalam Alaikam,

    Dear Pakwheels brothers,
I hope you all are fine by the grace of Allah.
Nowadays, I am facing a minor problem with my car.I want to share it with you guys so that the best possible solution could be derived.

The problem is whenever I try to start the car after parking it for a while, it doesn't start.Let's say I start the car in the morning, took it out from the garage, shut off the car and when I again want to start it, it wont start.

I am facing this problem on CNG as well as petrol.Someone suggested me to get the tappets adjusted.I got my car tuned from Suzuki 3S but after two or three days the problem again arises.

It will be so nice of you if you help me urgently as I am a student and this is my daily driven car, so please save your brother from worries and come up with a solution.

    Regards,
    Have a nice day.

I agree to what Naweed has said above.

We got ours fixed by just changing the plug wires.

    Probable reasons for starting problem

    - current : coil, plugs, wire, condenser, point or distributor cup needs replacement. A few indicators are leakage of current visible at night to a naked eye. Weak spark i.e colour less blue. Overheating of coil

    - Air chocked or excessive : when accelerator is pumped engine sound gives the clue

    - Timing (if advancer is not installed then timing is between 18 and 22 degrees)
    - Tappit setting (I think it is 25/25 for suzuki don't remember if the setting for suzuki is different in summers and winters)
    - Weak engine (generally starting troubles occurs when engine is at last stages)
    - Weak battery or starter problem

I've ignored fuel issues since you r getting similar symptoms on cng and petrol.

My wild guess is that you have a current problem and probably it is coil (don't ask why?)
Thank you sir your detailed explanation will help me alot.
And do you think that the engine can be weak ?
I have driven it for almost 45,000 km.
Engine oil changed at approx 2,000 km.

Dear, someone suggested me to get the tappets adjusted (that was not the only problem). So, I asked the 3S guys to tune my car and that what they did.

But the possible cause is plug wires, so I cannot say them anything

The original factory timing advancer suzuki install does hang and fail sometimes - it intercepts the ignition coil ignitor signal - if it hangs the coil does not fire and the engine fails to start.

    Check accordingly.

@Tayab, that problem is very common in CNG Altos, also was in mine, the problem is in cng cutoff switch solonoid, when u start the car starter sucks current & solonoid not open properly, install a relay on cng solonoid, for this, a guy name Afzal at byco petrol pump opp Honda point bhutta chowk, loose ur cars petrol cap once in a week also it will reduce pressure of gas in tank cause petrol can return back in carburater when running on cng.
    There's no car like Mercedes-Benz.

check if the battery gets hot .. coz its because of the plates in the battery...which bends due to faulty battery... u can also confirm this with the hissing sound from the battery.

or also due to overcharging of generator or alternator... which heats the battery up..
some acidic marks will be visible on the back of the bonnet
IF IT'S GOT BO0BS OR WHEELS IT WILL GIVE YOU PROBLEMS!!!!!!!

Engine oil changed at approx 2,000 km.
I was just covering all aspects and a severey weak engine is clearly noticeable and i dont think this is causing your starting issue.

Just for knowledge sake (someone explained here how to check battery) : open all vent plugs of battery now give some acceleration and check the cells, any bubbles forming (like those in an aquarium) indicate that particuler cell is dead. One dead cell (out of six) means your battery may last 3-4 months. More than one cell dead ;its time to replace battery
